I agree with Mark that AD induced mania usually occurs within the first few days of starting an AD and while a dx of bipolar is not given, the consensus is that the tendency towards that disorder exists. I also have seen nothing on a manic episode occuring with abrupt withdrawal of an AD; however it is well known that AD's cause instability and rapid cycling in people dxed with bipolar disorder. I don't think you would see that type of rx in someone with unipolar depression. Hope this helps- judy
