In reply to SSRIs How can U know when they kick in?, posted by geekUK on May 19, 2001, at 7:17:35
Hi gUK,
I have not responded to SSRI's in the past, in fact have only had very limited response to any 'traditional' AD treatments, and they pooped out quickly. I may have only been responding to (& enjoying) initial side-effects, which soon disappeared :(.
However, the following are sure signs I am not in "depression mode":* I will bathe regularly
* I will fix my hair and wear make-up
* I will iron my clothes
* I will read the paper/watch the news (and not *always* weep for all the injustices/atrocities that occur every second of our existence)
*I will rise from my bed in the cool, early morning, b/c I WANT to and I am INTERESTED in doing stuff.
* The morning light will not make me feel morbid, dreadful, hopeless, handicapped and worthless.
* I will be able to envision a moment in the future that is happy and my life as manageable.
* I will feel as if I can continue on beyond the moment in which I now exist, and not necessarily feel completely inadequate and overwhelmed.
Just a sampling...Ring any bells?
Hope u feel better soon~
Zannah> Hi, this is my first post on any forum, so bear with me. Just started taking Effexor XR, four weeks and counting, so how are you supposed to feel when they start to work?. I keep thinking 'Oh there it is' and then realising its not. I have been on prozac before for a long time and to no noticable effect. Anyone care to recount some experiances?
