> Hi, this is my first post on any forum, so bear with me. Just started taking Effexor XR, four weeks and counting, so how are you supposed to feel when they start to work?. I keep thinking 'Oh there it is' and then realising its not. I have been on prozac before for a long time and to no noticable effect. Anyone care to recount some experiances?

From a fellow Brit;

For most people it seems to creep up on them, until one day they suddenly realise they're actually enjoying themselves, or that they 'feel normal'.

Mine was a different story. Woke up one day a different person. Just like that. Didn't last unfortunately (I'm not the norm tho').

When/if it happens you'll know about it.

Neither drug worked for me, but I'd give the Effexor a couple more wks (dose?).

Because, like me you have the NHS (No Help, Silly) to contend with, I suggest you try & educate y'self as far as possible about matters psychiatric. You'll need to be armed with as much info as possible in order to negotiate your way rnd the quacks.

Hope the Effexor 'kicks-in',
j
