Cindylou,
I may be barking up the wrong tree here - only a good psychiatrist or mood disorder specialist could be sure - but your ADD symptoms combined with depression MAY be Bipolar Disorder. It was with me and after years of misdiagnoses, I was properly diagnosed and put on mood stabilizers.
Do you have restlessness, anxiety, fast thinking and speech, then irritability and possibly outbursts of anger accompanying or in periods before or following your depression? If so, do some internet research on the disorder and get an excellent doc to help you.
