Thats not really true. We know and can prove some of the things AD's do. The question of how this one provable action fits into the chain of events to improve move is not totally known.
I don't think it is reasonable to bash science for not knowing all the answers to this question,
it is a very complex and changable system. It is not simple like going to the moon or gigahertz processors.
