In reply to is depression just in my mind?, posted by Bonnie on May 18, 2000, at 21:53:25
In my experience, when a drug works there is no doubt about it whatsoever. If a patient even questions whether they're feeling good or not, then they probably aren't.
It's fairly common for an antidepressant to lift us out of the deepest hole of depression, but leave us with lingering residual symptoms. Not a total cure. The right drug targeting the right chemistry though will provide a 95%-100% cure. Many of us here have discovered that two or three different drugs are needed simultaneously in custom cocktails to get near-complete results.
So, no...I don't think it's just in your mind. Depression as I've experienced it--and you too probably--is a whole body experience. Not just the mind. It affects everything about us, including the way we walk, talk, have aches and pains, eat, sleep, everything.
