the blue ethers beckon
I want to be
my past life as a cloud
I would stroke the surface our earth
traverse the great oceans
draw from those salty bodies a deep drink
my soft surface rubbing
the mountains
enveloping the birds as they migrate
lay like a veil on the emerald isle
where the lady of the lake resides
I would caress her
as we traveled through the worlds
I could take you to another dimension
into the sky
into your mind
out of your mind
out of space
into your soulJai

I think it's really fascinating how many people on PB have, at one time or another, expressed a desire to be a sentient but ethereal form, such as a thinking cloud. I wonder if it comes from our collective frustration with our chemically mauled minds, and the idea that freedom from these flawed fleshy vessels would bring a degree of joy that many of us feel we are watching from afar. I wonder if that's why I cling to my dreams every morning; in my dreams, I have no mental illness. I've heard of paraplegics who walk in their dreams. Just a thought. ;) Atticus

Wow, I get a sense that the speaker is really in touch with what it means to be at peace. A cloud seems really peaceful, unless it's having a thunder storm;) The words you use make me feel like the speaker is or wants peace (stroke, traverse, soft surface, enveloping, caress). And there are definitely lots of references to nature. In health magazines, sometimes they do articles on yoga and there's always a picture of mountains, or a field. This reminds me a lot of that. Who is it you are talking to? ("as we traveled through the worlds
I could take you to another dimension") Jai, I am beginning to understand who you are through your writing. You seem quite holy and thoughtful! It was a joy to read this...Angela

**How does your dream world feel different than your waking life with respect to mental illness? what do these sane dreams look/feel like?

**Angela, by the way I like your name. thank you for your response. I know that it is peace I want to have.
>Who is it you are talking to? ("as we traveled through the worlds I could take you to another dimension")
**I have often fancied myself as the person who takes people from one state of consciousness to another. so the "you" is everyone.
thank you for your comment.
talk to you soon.

Well, I do still have the occasional Effexor-spawned nightmare (and it's easy for me to differentiate these from pre-Effexor nightmares because of their unbelievably exhausting duration and plot complexity). But there's not the waking world's sense of depressive paralysis as to what to do or how to respond to given situations. These dreams tend to require me to think and act very fast on my feet and improvise one solution after another at a rapid pace. When the same plotline stretches over a period of eight hours, it's like being trapped in the most complex video game I've ever encountered. I have a much higher degree of efficacy in my dreams than when I'm awake. I feel like I did before the biochemical storm broke in earnest in 1996. Atticus
