I'm on the TCA trimipramine (50 mg) and the SSRI sertraline (75 mg).
I wouldn't want to do without this combination, yet I'm lacking motivation to take care of everyday chores such as cleaning my apt., taking a shower or brushing my teeth. Though benzodiazepines such as diazepam or alprazolam give me the necessary "kick", willpower and motivation to do so, I've been hesitant to use them on a daily basis for fear of addiction.
Is there anything that might act similar to the benzoes in my case, perhaps another antidepressant or nootropic drug?
Thanks for any feedback!

I think this is just a commom problem for anyone dealing with these drugs. My solution is like the Nike commercial "just do it" sometimes just getting started is the hard part, once you get going it gets easier. trust me its worse to sit around when you know you have to get things done. I tackle this motivation issue every single day. Once I am up I think, what took me so long? I take .5 xanax daily. I have taken that dose for a long time. Quit for a few days every month and you can keep it under control. good luck

Look into Gabatril. It is a gaba reuptake inhibitor sort of like how ssri work on seritonin, Gatril wors on GABA. (which is what benzos and alcohol work on).

I mean, why, when I take a benzo (like when I used to take Ativan), which is supposed to be calming/sedating--why do I get this burst of energy? I used to save up my Ativan, not taking any during the day, and take them all at night. Then I could get my apartment cleaned, my papers for school written, etc. It always just seemed screwy to me.
