Just wondering. I slept the last two nights but I'm still exhausted. Experienced a lot of stressful events and long travel periods without a rest. How long before I feel rested? Any one know or have any idea? I thought a good nights sleep was supposed to do the trick? Fondly Phillipa

no, if you have lost alot of sleep you cant make it up over night. Actually you can never make up the effects of lost sleep (all the REM stuff) but you can feel better again in probably 3-7 days. Hang tight you will. Its no fun waiting it out though.

I don't reread my posts. I have a lot of typos.

I've been having weird dreams and nightmares non-stop for the last 3 1/2 weeks. I'm at a loss as to what to do about this myself. I'm mentally/physically exhausted and feel so unready and willing to go to work in the mornings. I know that it is stress that is causing this sleep habit, but can't seem to shake it. The only good nights rest that I have gotten in the last 3 1/2 weeks is when I had to drinks before going to sleep. Knowing my family's history w/ alcohol, I know that I can not depend on this; and my past addiction to pain killers, has me weary to take even tylenol. Yet, last night, after much frustration and starring at the ceiling, I got up and took 2. Woke up this morning after another crazy dream, and felt drunk at work all morning.

I don't think that you can be too nice to yourself during such a stressful time, Phillipa. Really - sleep as much as you can, nap during the day. Take relaxing baths with lavender oil, play soft music, really treat yourself with kid gloves. Stress - long term stress - really takes a physical toll on us. It's not selfish to do these things; it's self preservation.

I'm embarassed to admit I'm not up to date on your story. Are you stressed for the same reason I am? Katrina?

Phillipa, I sent Dinah a Babblemail about your experience. I hope that's OK.
Healing hugs to you both.

Phillipa, I would think because of your immune system (Lyme's), you are like me when under stress; it triggers all sorts of other things. Give yourself plenty of time to rest; pamper yourself. If you have the money, go and get yourself a nice, hour long massage. Take your B vitamins and sleep at least 8-9 hours per night.

Dominique- are you taking any new medications? Sometimes certain meds give me weird dreams. Have you tried an herbal tea like chamomille to put you to sleep and relax you? Also a nice warm bath before bed should help.
I hope you get rest soon and feel much better.

Thanks for the advice, but no..I'm not on any new meds... just life issues and work. A hot bath only gives me more quiet time to think...and that's not good. I've tried tea...not much help. Right now I'm on 3 hours of sleep, mentally/physically exhausted and can not sleep. My mind doesn't stop racing....

Maybe you need to be on some other meds.

Sorry, I did not mean to act like a doctor. I only mean that maybe you should ask your doctor about other meds to help you in this hard time.

It does sound stressful. Take care of yourself, and take it easy for a few days. I usually sleep for a week when a crisis is over.
This is the end of the thread.
