Wow -- It will take me a day or two to catch up!
My mom is doing okay. They were moving her to a rehab hospital today. Her lungs cleared up pretty quick, but then she had some heart complications. But that seemed to be under control today. However, she has no endurance whatsoever, so the need for a few days of rehab. She still had pretty good muscular strength (my mom has participated in an outpatient cardio-pulminonary fitness program for five years to maintain her fitness even though she has COPD). Hopefully, she will be able to go home by the beginning of next week.
The visit was great with my mom. My sister and mom's husband made the first day incredibly stressful. But I accomplished exactly what I wanted -- spending quality time with my mother. It is scary to think that each time I see my mom may be the last time. I plan to get out there as soon as I can -- maybe November.
In all manners, I am exhausted. I really won't get to catch up until this weekend. I have to get into work first thing -- try to get in some good billable hours these last three days -- even though I have every conceivable appointment that I could possibly have!
PBA looks pretty interesting. If Sal has been homo bashing on PB, my dander will be up in an instance (not to mention the religious stuff). I thought of you all often -- next trip, the laptop travels with me. I don't know why I didn't take it with me this time.
A tired puppy dog.

akc,
Been where you are. It's very difficult to deal with.
Not much on advice but leave your laptop at home next visit, too. Focus on what's really important.Phil

> PhilThanks Phil -- had to grin, though. When I wasn't at the hospital with my mother, I sometimes had to be with her husband. He is good to my mother, but I have spent 7 years now wondering what in the world she sees in him. To me (and most, if not all of my family) he is the biggest jerk in the world. I would get better support from you guys than him! So I spent most of my time away from the hospital with my knee propped up in front of the tube or running up his phone bill. He is also the cheapist dude in the world. I am sure he will have a cow when he sees the bill.
Now where are all the rest of you babblers with my welcome homes?!

welcome home, akc. glad to hear that you are satisfied although tired. you certainly live a busy life, but then these are all your choices. hope your bed is soft and your dog(s) behave(s) so that you can rest in between the appointments and 'billable hours' :) It took me 2 weeks of persistent rest to get rid of my own exhausion punctuated with periods of terrible stress which is of course all in my head, for they are not bombing the town, not really :)
hugs

Welcome home!
Glad to hear that your visit with your Mom was a good one and that she is doing OK. I know from my experience of moving my G-ma into a rehab center that it can be an extremely stressful time. I hope you are able to spend some wonderful time with her in the future.
Your comment about billable hours brought back memories of my ex-boss saying "Gee Greg, doesn't look like you have very many billable hours on your time sheet this pay period..." grrrrr.
Get yourself some rest before diving in at PBA.
I hope you're doing well,

akc-
I'm really glad to hear that your mom is doing alright and that you're home. I went though the same thing with my dad, so I know what you are going through-somewhat.
Your post really brought back some memories for me-the last time my dad was in the hospital, I went to spend time with him-I asked him to hold me that day for the first time in my life I was held by a man who said they loved me, but didn't want to screw me in return. It was the last time we spoke.
Thanks for bringing that back to me-
