I saw the man Thursday and went through the whole speel again. You know the one, I needn't explain. Well by the end of the session, we had determined where my mood circle is approximately and that I was still suffering some depression along with my Bipolar disorder.
I told him my T had recommended Provigil (white lie) and he agreed that it would be worth a try. So now I am just waiting for the insurance approval to go through so I can pick up my 'script.
I am partially elated for the simple fact that I got what I wanted. I like to get what I want. Don't we all. I hope the med works as expected.
An interesting note: As he was explaining the mood circle, which, I vaguely remember from Psych class, he pointed out which emotions fall nto the respective quadrants. He saved the low energy/high euphoria quadrant, or the pleasure zone as he called it, for last. He asked me what I thought may fall into that area. Of course I didn't say the first thing that came to mind, which was "being stoned?" I pondered a moment and said, "sitting on a beach somewhere?" He agreed and stated that some people also try to achieve this pleasure through the use of illicit drugs. Ka-ching! I think he may have been testing me for abuse issues. If so, I passed the test.

Hi Curt,
Expdoc asked me if I ever did any illicit drugs. I looked at him and said, I went to college, what do you think? He then asked if I still did them. I said, only when I have access to them.
I'm glad you got the med you wanted and that you passed the *drug* test.

Hi curt,
glad to know that you got what you want. It sounds like a good appt. Educational, productive. My pdoc went through a list of drugs one by one, also prescription drugs. and I had to say yes or no, and how much. said it was in my own best interests, and when i said 'yes', he asked me what situations I used it in, and how it made me feel. said it was a good way to learn about my responsivity to different classes of drugs. he wasn't judgmental. and he agreed to be my pdoc and help me feel better before the "test".
I'm so happy for you :)
where do I fall- neutral mood, medium-high energy, but mood is very sensitive to perturbations?

My insurance denied it so I will have to pay out of pocket. I'll keep posted how the Provigil does for me.

There was someone recently who had found provigil at a much lower price at some Canadian pharmacies. As I recall, it's now legal to buy prescription drugs from Canada. (Check on that, though, because I'm not 100% sure).
You might do some online searches. The person was named Kylenn (I think)-- a physician who seemed to have some issues with our economic system, among other things.
It wsa a recent discussion. Were you around at that point?
The info re: Provigil was in one of her earlier posts in the thread, which started on the meds board.

That's really too bad. Try it out for a week or two. If you find that it makes a really big difference, appeal to your pdoc. Perhaps pdoc can diagnose you with "shift-work sleep disorder" or one of the other FDA approved diagnoses. At the very least, your pdoc might be able to help you appeal your case, or give you some samples.

I wouldn't have been able to stop smirking most probably. Maybe thats a function of how I'm feeling today.
But surely curt you could have said sex.
This is the end of the thread.
