Yes, I'm positive it's stress. It's happening not infrequently. I use progressive relaxation, etc. and have most physical manifestations of anxiety under adequate control most of the time. But the stress induced chest pain seems to be stubborn.
Anyone learn any techniques in CBT to deal with that specific symptom?

Get thee to a doctor just to rule out other causes - regardless of how convinced you are that it's stress induced.
My husband's "it must be stress" occasional chest pains turned out to be angina.

I agree, but also, have you tried abdominal breathing? That can sometimes help. Or progressive imagery versus tensing and relaxing. Sometimes the tensing makes it worse. Imagine a glowing warmth stealing up from your toes on up. You can let it hang out at your chest as long as it takes for you to feel some softening, or melting of the tension.
Feel better,

Never underestimate the value of a good belch.
(Now THAT would make a good T-shirt)

lol.
You've been making me laugh a lot lately, Emmy. Thank you.
But yes, you're right. There are times when a good belch is quite valuable.

I'll mention it to my internist when I see her, but I'm a bit reluctant. She ran all kinds of tests after my last stress episode (not about this), and all came up negative.
I'm just getting old and my body can't take stress anymore.

I'll keep trying. So far my relaxation hasn't made it down as far as whatever muscles are causing the pain. I like the idea of imagining warmth though, since actual warmth does sometimes work.
My therapist suggested the ubiquitous exercise.
