Posted by sleepygirl on February 7, 2006, at 15:44:21

I spent a good hour today curled up and grunting while I experienced some of the worst menstrual cramps ever!! that was really extreme! it was so great when the aleve FINALLY kicked in~ I just fell asleep from the awesome relief ~ it was really, really, really painful (really)
How in the world can this be normal?

Hi

Have you always suffered bad cramps? Perhaps you should get checked out by a doc.

This happens to me every "other" month or so. Husband can never understand it!

It is horrible, it is awful, it is crippling and it is downright very, very painful!!!

I so totally understand. And I cannot offer advice!

I hope next month (cycle) is better for you.

Magnesium, magnesium, magnesium!

I take this in the form of 'magnesium-ok' a mutli designed for the 'monthly' cycle and it really really helps. It takes a little while to kick in (~3weeks) but its great for cramps, etc. I barely even notice any feeling! Helps too with symptoms of nervousness and insomnia. A vastly underrated in my opinion!!!!

Two months into taking magnesium I had the worst bout of cramps ever. I am too afraid to resume taking it.

Try soy. It really helps me. And now, I'm really addicted to soy nuts with sea salt. And the good news, they're cheap!

Does anyone also get breast tenderness, too? Sweet l. I don't know if it's the new meds that I'm on, my new TCM prescript (sheng mai san), or something else. But these three weeks have been miserable. And I feel like I need to go up a bra size!

Would magnesium help with that, too? I'm a little wary of wonking up my calcium-mag balance. Does the Mag. OK formula have them in a specific ratio?

This is maddening!

Now I have cramps. Bleah. I just want to lie down and cry, but I am at work. They are not the absolute worst killer cramps, but I am definitely in pain, and sitting at this desk isn't helping.

And workmen are drilling holes through the wall.

So how much ibuprofen is too much? I took 3 pills (600 milligrams) about three hours ago, when my period first started. The cramps are still sneaking through, so I just took 2 more pills (400 mg). I haven't even given those a chance to work yet, I guess I should be patient. I will wait 15 minutes and then I will take another.

How much would be too much in one day?

(I used to take Aleve, which was quite effective, but then there were some stories that it may not be so great, and I admit I was taking a bit more than the suggested dose.)

I could takeThe Pill for cramps but don't really need the pill at this time and I don't want to add another med.

I just want to lie down. For some reason, I think I would feel better if I could put a big huge dictionary on my lower back too.

Screw it, I'm taking one more pill. So that would be 1,200 in about four hours' time.

That's not the end of the world, right?

Or should I just go home? But I probably have to do that one work thing.

men can answer ibuprofen query too...

Men can answer too, I was asking how much ibuprufen is too much-- the real-life answer not the warning label answer.

I took 600mg three hours ago and just took 400mg. I really want to take another 200mg. I think that will chase away the pain.

Or should I wait one more hour?
