PMS-too extreme

Posted by survivor1 on January 28, 2006, at 17:09:53

I am having a hard time right now staying evenkeeled as it is,now on top of it I'm pmsing right now and I just want to jump out of my skin! I can go to such extremes too. It scares me how down on myself I can get and my outlook of the world is warped. I heard something about Magnesium helping and Calcium? Does anybody know about this and how many milligrams would work? I don't want to excercise because I don't want to be aware of my bloated body. RRRRGGGGH!

I take 1200 mg of Calcium, and 250 of Magnesium (plus whatever's in my prenatal vitamin..no, I'm not pregnant.) :)

I also used to take Premsyn PMS or Midol PMS. They have something in there, maybe it's an antihistamine? that helps with nerves, and a mild diuretic to help with water bloat.

Yoga can be a good help, too.

Finally, my pdoc recommended I go up a half tab of my antidepressant (nardil) during PMS, since I get so much more emotionally sensitive then.

Good luck.

thank you, I'll try it. I think I'll ask my med.doctor about possibly going up on something during pms too.

Thank you so much. I am going to the store today to do that. It probably won't show a difference until next month but I'll let you know.

Magnesium is great for PMS. I don't really get PMS now I have started supplementing with a multivitamin/mineral designed to help with 'the cycle'. It really works! Although I think that you have to wait 2-4weeks but it has really made a difference. Also, you need other vitamins and minerals for the magnesium to work properly so I would recommend a good quality multivit/mineral.
