Hi people
I want to lose 10 pounds and I find it difficult to stick with any sort of diet and exercise regime.
Anyways...I find that I get satiated when I drink carbonated drinks. I'm thinking of drinking a lot of diet soda (heehee, I still use this word even though the word "pop" is used here) to lose weight. The caffeine will also help boost my metabolism. Is this an ok idea or a really bad idea?
Maybe I'll take some calcium supplements since I don't drink any milk and taking caffeine doesn't help.

The aspartame in many diet sodas has been getting bad press for a while, (getting credit for causing all sorts of digestive ills) but they are a better alternative to the sugared pops. I'm a fizzy fan, so I drink seltzer water. It comes in "flavours" which I think are a marketing ploy, and I still fail to understand how water can be so expensive, but it's become a habit. Now the only time I drink pop is when I have a bad tummy, and insist on the curative qualities of ginger ale!!

I don't know if I believe aspartame is better for you than sugar. I've talked with a few nutritionist who say if you MUST drink those drinks, they'd rather you drink it with the real sugar than the aspartame stuff.
I do know that my dad was having hallucinations once and while the neurologist was checking him out, he asked my dad how many diet drinks he has a day (my dad usually averages a 12 pack). He told my dad he believed if he cut waaaay back on the aspartame, he might not have the hallucinations anymore.
Oddly enough, when my dad cut them off, they stopped.
I have no idea why it caused that in him, but he was also consuming MASS amounts.
Anyway, I've read a few things that claim aspartame can actually cause you to GAIN weight because it causes carb cravings.
Who knows?
