I don't know if I believe aspartame is better for you than sugar. I've talked with a few nutritionist who say if you MUST drink those drinks, they'd rather you drink it with the real sugar than the aspartame stuff.

I do know that my dad was having hallucinations once and while the neurologist was checking him out, he asked my dad how many diet drinks he has a day (my dad usually averages a 12 pack). He told my dad he believed if he cut waaaay back on the aspartame, he might not have the hallucinations anymore.

Oddly enough, when my dad cut them off, they stopped.

I have no idea why it caused that in him, but he was also consuming MASS amounts.

Anyway, I've read a few things that claim aspartame can actually cause you to GAIN weight because it causes carb cravings.

Who knows?
