Hello,
My Mom broke her wrist and the hospital gave her 2 Tylenol w/codeine no. 3's. She started to get really nauseous and vomited many times. She also reported feeling "out of it." (a really unpleasant sensation).
When the effects wore off, we found that just half a tablet (forget the dosage) would control her pain. She reported feeling "out of it" even with half a tablet. Is this normal? She's decided not to take anymore of the Tylenol w/codeine no.3.

You can buy Tylenol 1's (and the generic versions) over the counter at any pharmacy (in Canada). You have to ask for them, but you don't need a prescription. They have only 8 mg of codeine, compared to the 30 mg in Tylenol 3.
Alternatively, ibuprofen might be a fair substitute.

Yes, but this side effects often disappears after a few days of regular use.
