Tylenol w/codeine no.3, nausea and vomiting

Hello,
My Mom broke her wrist and the hospital gave her 2 Tylenol w/codeine no. 3's. She started to get really nauseous and vomited many times. She also reported feeling "out of it." (a really unpleasant sensation).
When the effects wore off, we found that just half a tablet (forget the dosage) would control her pain. She reported feeling "out of it" even with half a tablet. Is this normal? She's decided not to take anymore of the Tylenol w/codeine no.3.
