Wheat Bran?

I dunno if this is even the right forum for this question, but does anyone add wheat bran to their diet?

And is wheat bran or oat bran a better nutritional supplement?

I assume you are talking about wheat bran cereal, but I am not sure. It is high in fiber which is excellent. Most wheat bran cereals as long as they are not frosted flakes or high in sugar are good for you with low or non fat milk. I like to eat raising bran with soy milk. Fiber helps clean the colon but can make you poop alot.

Snoozin...hmmmm....are you one of the dwarves?

I don't know that one uses bran for its nutrients. Germ is nutritional. Bran is fiber. If I recall correctly, oat bran had more effect than did wheat bran, on a gram for gram basis.

Bran contains a lot of soluble fiber. Soluble fiber holds great quantities of water, via hydrogen bonding. For each gram of soluble fiber, up to around 200 grams of water might be held. It keeps feces moist, and easier to pass.

There may be effects of minor constituents of different brans, but I haven't really looked into that aspect. But if you wanna, I will.

I've read that rice bran is supposed to be VERY good for you. It's not available in regular stores but Whole Foods & other markets like that often have it.

I think oats in their pure form have been shown to very slightly lower cholesterol if eaten daily (replacing a higher-fat/chol. food.)
