I am tall, but I have a small frame. My sister is 5"10 and she looks amazing at 180. She also has a bigger frame than me. I on the other hand don't look or feel as good at the weight I am at. I feel best at 150, even at 6 feet tall.

I seem to be getting better, but I am just trying to take one day at a time and not get so down on myself.

Oops, starting weight was 168. Current 169. Ugh! (nm)

I am on the Atkins diet and trying to loose weight. I work out everyday for about 3/4th of an hour. I am loosing size but really it takes such devotion to loose the weight. I have lost 7 lbs. since I started but I guess that's where I am because I haven't lost anymore. I want to be down to 150lbs. I would love to hit the 150's.
Every year I gain about 10 pounds.

EVERY YEAR!

So I would like to go down in weight with all this giving up and concentration.
I love food and energy...so I feed both.
I get REAL hungry....
So I am working at the same goal too.

I wish us both a lot of luck and I encourage us all in continuing the struggle of the bulge.

Zee, I am trying to cut way down of portion size and I am trying to lift weights every other day. I will try and walk when it gets warmer, but that is about as far as I am willing to take it so far. I may get more motivated come spring time, but I figure that is a start.

I have not lost any weight yet, but I will keep trying.

Okay, I think I am going to start a journal where I write down everything I eat. I have started reading packages for calories and it is not pretty. Once I get an idea of my intake (ugh, I'm scared) I may think twice before eating some of it. I also will have a better idea of when I eat what and where I can cut.

Hopefully,

It takes me at least that long to know whether I am going down or not. I can go up and down 5 pounds a day, so I have to wait a bit longer. Also I have been lifting weights, so I am not going to get to upset if I've put on weight. I am also measuring the size of my hips and waist, etc, so I don't only go by weight alone.

Ooh! that is a great thing to do. I tried it today and ran out of calories by 4pm.... So I came home and ate tomorrowès allowance!

Kidding aside, it is a smart thing to keep a food diary. It made me realize how many stupid calories I was expending on foods I just wolf down without a thought. At least it will make me a thoughtful eater.

I was doing SO good losing weight awhile back, then the damn winter hit and I just can't bring my curvaceous bod to venture outside of my bedcovers.....

I know how positive it is for my mental state and my health to move my booty every day, but it is so difficult sometimes.

I was thinking that if you have been working out and lifting weights, you might not lose pounds yet even if you've lost fat, becuase you might have put on muscle, which supposedly weighs more than fat.

Weigh in today, lost 4 pounds, likely water weight

Hey all.

I downloaded a program for my palm: Diet and Exercise Assistant. This is helping me track what I eat, how much I can eat in order to reach my goal, and factors in basal metabolic rate and exercise. It gives you all kinds of great tables and graphs to see how I am doing. So far, so good. I was able to see that the steak dinner I had the other night really killed my goal for the day. And Grands bisquits are evil! Too good, but too fat and too many carbs.

So far so good. And I actually did yoga the other day and went for a walk yesterday. It's pretty cool that I can enter the exercise and see how many calories I burned. Sometimes it justifies a cookie. Very motivating!

Good luck to the rest!

Congratulations! Losing water weight is motivating in itself, if you ask me. I wish I could figure out what causes the water retention in the first place They say it's too many carbs? It just seems to come and go.

Good luck with your new system. Entering my food and exercise into the computer would drive me nuts! But it sounds like you're enjoying it. Congratulations on the exercise too. Yoga and walking are my favorite forms of exercise. I used to love swimming and inline skating, but now those activities seem to require a little more -Umph- than I have available.

Congrats, GG. I don't think I would like the computer tracking thing, but I agree with Tab that whatever motivates you is good.

I went to the gym today!

I don't even remember how long it had been, but it had been a very long time--months and months and months. I had begun calling myself a "silent investor" in the gym.

So I first got out today mid afternoon, taking out some trash and recycling. It was beautiful out. Did some more hauling and then decided I could do it, I could get myself to the gym.

I had a good time. I'm gonna be sore tomorrow, I know it. But I enjoyed it today. I did a bunch of different things--stretching, 10 walk on treadmill, 25 minutes on the recumbent bicycle, then some circuit weights (quads, shoulders, triceps), and then did some more cardio on the elipticals--about another 15 minutes, ending with some obligatory stretching. That stretching afterward is hard for me to be motivated for. If I get down on the mats, I get too relaxed and want to go to sleep!!

I did weigh myself on the scale in the gym bathroom. But I'm not sure I want to do a start and target weight here, so I'll keep the number to myself. I think the goal for me is to get there and exercise, or do other forms of exercise outdoors.

Great job! (nm) » noa

Good for you, noa!

I know that sore feeling and I love it! You will have such a sense of accomplishment tomorrow. Hopefully, it will keep you motivated.

Great job!

I just don't seem to lose or gain, just stay the same. I exercised a little more this week, but didn't cut calories, so....if I had just cut the calories, then I would have lost some weight...duh! But I had MAJOR sugar cravings this week that I caved into (you see, Topamax doesn't cure everything!). Oh well, there's always next week.......
