How are you people ? It's been a long time since the last time I've came here! about 1 and a half year ? ..I'd like to try Omega 3 again, but more seriously this time around. And so I would like advices on how to proceed.
---
My symptoms: anxiety, light akathesia, mild depression, bad control over my thoughts (OCD like)... Executive problems and so on...My diagnostic: After 7 years of psychiatric consulting-> POSSIBLE Bipolar 2, Atypical Social Phobia.
What I tried: ~25 meds. Some for side effects.
... that said.. I already have a bottle of Omega3: EPA-rich triple fish oil concentrate from anchovy, sardines, mackerel... 1000mg
EPA ... 500mg
DHA ... 25mg
"no repeat, or fishy odor"
I hope someone will be willing to help me.Marty

Hello Marty
Is it really a year and a half?
I dunno about fish oil.
People speak about taking it so you get around a gramme of EPA a day.
I'm unsure about the DHA.

>The best thing about fish oil is to open up the capsule and apply it all over your body. It tingles and as it is absorbed it becomes a strong aphrodisiac sometimes so strong people lose control and use 'instruments' inappropriatly! Good Luck Martin ;)

Hi Marty,
I use Omega-3 fatty acids, mainly for cardiovascular health. I take 1080mg of EPA and 720mg of DHA on a daily basis. I used to take higher doses to try to get some positive results for my atypical depression and social anxiety. It did not seem to have an effect on these. The scientific evidence of fish oil for cardiovascular health is becoming overwhelming.
Take care.

I wouldn't put any huge hopes on omega3's. They are a decent brain tonic, excellent heart tonic, and possibly a very mild mood stabilizer or for some people a mild antidepressant. But clinical studies have contradictory reports. There are not many anecdotal reports of major success with fish oil. Over the years it seems like a common way to sum up how it works for most people would be like this, "I think it maybe helps a little, but I'm not sure."
Hey, it's cheap and healthy and safe. Worth a try. Make sure to get a brand that specifies it is free of heavy metals. Just don't get your hopes up for anything significant. Could happen, but I doubt the odds are very good.
This is the end of the thread.
