I always found I felt better on SJW than anything else.

However, I have never found a consistant brand.

I'm waiting for synthetic hyperforin to come out (or was it synthetic hypercin?)

I guess people are giving the alternatives another go since some of the pharmacudicals have been linked to strange behavior.

When SSRI's were linked to increased suicidal thinking, I was about to say: "no duh"

I have always believed that SSRI's make me more suicidal, yet am either addicted, or benefit in some way.

I have said it a thousand times. I think the world would be a happier place if we had some potent 5-ht1a agonists.

Sure, SSri's give you a little activity there, but the 5-ht2a,2c, 5-ht3, 5-ht1d, 5-ht7 agonism just trashes any positive effect they may exert.
And makes you feel lousier on many different levels.

SJW has some 5-ht1a agonism, but some of the other actions make me a little wonkey. Dispite some claims to the contrary, I really think it has significant anticholinergic activity, cause to me it is a dumb drug.

Oh well.

Well, that's good news for some. Now if only I could sleep while taking it. That would be great. Cleaning my kitchen frantically at 2:00 a.m. wasn't working for me.

Well Cheryl,
Cleaning My kitchen at 2 a.m. might work for you. Let me know if you're interested. :)

The problem with studies like this is that they don't consider the poop-out factor, which is a major complaint among users of both pharmaceuticals and alternative medicine.
SJW did have positive benefits for me, well at least for about 6 weeks.. (the length of this trial). I was not able to download the full report, but apparently they don't say whether or not participants had been on anti-depressants previously. Do they control for this? Maybe they should try SJW just on people who no longer get relief from SSRI's and/or other AD's. The (not so) funny thing is that many of us are now diagnosed as having atypical depression because the drugs don't work anymore. At any rate this study gives some hope, and as a result of it, myself and thousands of others may give it another try.

I'd be interested in hearing from those who have had ongoing sucess with SJW, and what brand they use.

good day, Jake
