this is one of my number one post sites to post things, both about questions and blogs, and helping people. It's just....babble is huge in its posts, it has at least couple million posts since 1998, I joined in 2003, under different screen names, and made up stuff, only about 30percent of it was true. Today im doing my best to have a non catfish, troll, untrue life, but really there's about 20 posters here that are active, the only thing, dr-bob do you think we can recruit people here? somehow advertise it, open a counseling board, I could train myself to be a non credited person to counsel, but ... in my own, im not in any position really to do that. Some of my own advice I've given in the past to people, I read in the posts pre 2009, there are some stuff that I can awnser my own questions, piled in the archives but I never used it. Sadly...
but really dr-bob, It would be great to get more people here on babble, more insight, more knowedge, and widened support from the internet. The only thing if that happened, is babble's family like how we know everyone, it would be changed, it would be like moving a small town with genius people, to new yorks massive energy...still I do like babble as it is, its just I wished there was more, lots more people here.....
is there anything dr-bob you think you agree with me on this? you think its a good idea to expand babble's boards to advertisement on the internet/
would love to hear.....but if its out of reality to do it....yea I understand.....

I've never been a big fan of advertising, but it's possible I could be convinced.

I liken Babble's waxing and waining to social networks like MySpace which was number one at one point and then dwindled with competition. Likewise, at least in my experience, participants in mental health support sites have a peak investment commensurate with their attachment to the community. Yet there's only so much you can get out of cyber relationships that the real world won't eventually lure away. I'm not certain why Babble hasn't ebbed and flowed in waves of activity bolstered by new participants offering fresh personalities and needs.

I have to say that having a certain poster scare new people away routinely and doing nothing about it does not help the website. Sure, I know better than to read this person's posts. But new people don't know better and would tend to be driven away by them.
Why can't anything be done about this? I truly don't understand why this is allowed to continue.
Perhaps Dr. Bob could enlighten me and explain why this situation is allowed to continue by the moderator.

Be not deceived. What is allowed here is plainly visible. What is plainly visible could be seen in the following post. To see this post, go to the search box at the bottom of this page and type in:
[admin,1037049]
see that the 1037049 is in the url

> LouFriends,
It is plainly visible what is being allowed here. Look at the following to see what has been allowed for years that could arouse hatred toward me here. And that hate can be acted out to others in the form of mass-murder. Look at the last post that gives a list of tactics that hate-mongers use. I am trying to save lives here. If what I am saying is not true, then post the drug that you think is not dangerous here and give me reasons why and I can post the reasons why not. For every reason you give me, I'll give you three

After you read that, then you can tell me to stop trying to save lives here, but post here your reasons and I will expose them for what is plainly visible here.

Dr Bob see this is why babble is the way it is now. Fear and death don't make for a good mental health site. Phillipa

well, first....babble kinda is spontaneous and not guaranteed responses, not all advice is accurate....but its all contribing into giving info and in someways to help other posters. It could be expanded, from what it is right now, it is vary large in its posts since 1998, near a million or over it.....the only thing I was thinking is trained therpists, or well known things of babble to attract more people, also through advertising. If there was advertise slogan for babble its kinda hard to think how we would do it.....because there's 100's of websites that have similar things to babble....the only thing I've ran across people who have browsed through babble....and they get repulsed or scared away....nothing really scary about it, its just how they perceive it. So modifcations would have to be made, the slogan of medical research and information as personal messages to questions by new posters. Still its difficult, this whole website is some kind of knowedge data base, its just vary informal...its not stated fact, its more social info with some medical knowedge....none of it is in quotations, or facts. But to get it off the ground, yea modifications would have to be made if babble where to become a vary large website with 100's of posters....like I said, its like a small town right now, and then it would move toward large capacity interaction similar to new York city...but still that sounds too far off....I haven't even thought what it would be like if there 1000s of posters, the boards would move vary quickly, new posts every hour....the boards move slowly right now, its just like a small-moderate community of about 20-30posters.
So, I will have to think on some ideas on that....but it defiantly would be a growth on medical knowledge that doctors, universities, or someone browsing the internet could find info....I just don't see how this could be complete info website because everyone is social here....its not like a immediate data reply with facts stating like a textbook.
There are still options that are open, it may take a while to get this idea approved, and off the ground....have to plan a new format for babble, or whatever it would evolve too....
that's it from my view....so hopefully in the future opportunity would rise....

> baseball55I know it can be frustrating here. Partly because of my approach to moderating. At the same time, that's something that may distinguish Babble from other forums. A few responses to the above:
1. Be the change you wish to see. You may not have to feel dependent on me. If you want new people to know they don't have to read everyone's posts, you can tell them (while remaining civil). If you want them to feel reassured, you can reassure them.
2. At the same time, I realize there are things I can do that you can't. Lately, I've been trying to separate the sides in conflicts. If two sides are too far apart, giving them separate threads may lessen conflict between them without invalidating either of them.
3. Prospective posters may also be driven away by efforts to drive away particular posters. Sometimes people with mental health issues identify with those who aren't popular.

yea...well maybe I was a bit off...sometimes my view is not educated lol, but really moving babble to advertising it....and then it becomes well known on the net....like a data source for information....but its in social form.
I don't know...im thinking too much utopia versions of it....but seriously try to consider the advertising part....it would really be good.
