Hi all,
I know this is an old topic but I couldn't find much on the boards.
Is anyone still taking fish oil for depression? I am considering adding it to my regimen.
How much is good to take and what are some good brands? Does it work within a few weeks or does it take months?
Thank you for any info.

I used to take fish oil supplements. I didn't notice feeling any better while I was taking them, or feeling any worse when I stopped taking them. Some people argue that it's better to get omega-3 fatty acids from eating fatty fish, such as salmon, mackerel, herring, sardines.
Recently I've read that fish oil might work better in combination with pro-resolving mediators. They're sold by Life Extension:

People can actually feel the physical difference. It's 1000 times more powerful than Vit C, and over 400 x than vitamin e. I imagine it is likely very good for us with mental illness, because of the huge anti-inflammatory effect. I am ordering a bottle on Friday, payday.

>I have been taking it for many years, it's in bottled form so I take almost a table spoon every morning, it's also fortified with A, D and E vitamins. Never did anything for my depression afaik, but it has other health benefits and, at least in theory, could have a slight effect on my depression.
I think of it as a lubricant for the body :)
