How to calm down and sleep after intense workout

Posted by Lamdage22 on February 24, 2022, at 0:18:05

Hey guys any Ideas what I can do to get to sleep after an intense workout? My body is in fight or flight mode I guess. Cardiovascular system doesn't calm down so quickly.

Prothipendyl could be obtained for example, so could Pipamperon. They both low potency neuroleptics that are sedating.

I need a solution for this as I can't always work out in the morning.

I want to get the job done without tolerance or a risk of addiction. Not sure if Pipamperon or Prothipendyl is enough. Isn't there a med to calm down the cardiovascular system?

Yes, antihypertensives. For example propranolol or guanfacine. I suggest a non-selective beta-blocker because both beta1- and beta2-adrenoceptors contribute to tachycardia.

You're already taking quetiapine (Seroquel) which is a strong anti-histamine, so I'm thinking other anti-histamines wouldn't help. However, if you want to try, I suggest cyproheptadine (Periactin).

You can also try zolpidem or zopiclone. I have the understanding that they are less addictive than benzodiazepines. They probably don't have much of an effect on the cardiovascular system, though, but then again, neither do anti-histamines.

Thanks, Beta blockers often cause insomnia though. They were my first thought. Got to get the adrenaline down I thought. Next thought would be cortisol blocking medications. I hear the phenomenon is caused maily by cortisol and (nor)adrenaline.

I can ask my doctor. I think he is pissed because I basically treat myself, he only writes prescriptions. Got to give a dog a bone.

I seem to piss him off even though I see him for 5 Minutes every ten weeks. It is kind of weird. I don't piss off many people usually and I am not sure what brought this on.

there is propranolol, blocks the fight or flight response mode

there's other ways, meditating but people tell me meditate and it does nothing good. Alcohol or wine, no ... it would calm down but your get hooked in alcohol syndromes. One thing...Magnesium, take about 500-1000mg of it it should calm the nerves down.

there's a term called 'wine moms' where moms drink wine all the time during stress, wine...it depends, because you can go to sleep with alcohol helping, but it tends to wake you up during the night. When you drink alcohol it makese it easy to go to sleep, but you wake up in the middle of the night, then have difficulty getting back to sleep. I've leanred that, wine makes it easier to doze off, but wakes you up after it wears off during the night

Its weird, beta blockers seem to disturb sleep more often than help. At least that is the conclusion of my searches. I wonder if I should really ask for Zolpidem. I don't want to kill someone driving my car while I am asleep. Id rather have a slightly higher addiction risk with Lorazepam. These nasty side effects happen to some people. I am proof. Zopiclon doesn't work for me. I will probably get a mixture of 0,5 Lorazepam and 120mg Prothipendyl and hope that is enough. Its two days a week. I train weights 3 days a week, at least one day off in between. So I will hit the weights twice during the week and once on the weekend. On the weekend I can work out in the morning.

You have to actually try it to know whether it affects *you*.

Isn't that an antihistamine? You're already taking a lot of quetiapine. *And* olanzapine. Maybe reschedule to take most of them at night before you go to bed?

I will talk to him and see. I may also ask if I offended him somehow if he is grumpy again. I wanna fix this. I may have said something.
