I think my pdoc said that tardive dyskenisia from older typical antipsychotics is more severe then from atypical...
anyone know if its true?

I've read that, too.I dunno. The atypicals as a class are still viewed as better than typicals. I suspect there's a lot of variation amongst the older drugs and also that dosing issues come into play.
I've also read that the TD is milder with AAPs, that the annual rates of TD development are lower, and that long term TD rates are lower. True? Who knows...
...again, I imagine that there's some heterogeneity amongst the atypicals. I keep reading that Seroquel is better in terms of TD and all that than anything else. I don't know if that's true, though.

I think the best is Clozapine in that regard. It causes less TD than placebo so...
Seroquel is still pretty good.

I think they just want you to take a new expensive med. I took abilify and it gave me horible TD in my hands, just in a few months. I still have it and its been years since I stoped it.
