As a few of you might have guessed, I have been feeling increasingly desperate about the anxiety/panic thing, especialy my ability to keep working if Nardil didnt work - i had the feeling that nardil was the last thing left for me to try and that if it didnt work, all that was left for me was suicide or a life on welfare
A friend said to me when we were talking about my sitiation on facebook "why not just take more Xanax".... and amazing as it might seem, the idea of higher dose benzos hadnt realy occured to me, i know my doctor wont be extatic about the idea, but better that if it keeps me as a productive, functioning member of society than either dead or a burned out case.
I feel as though a great weight has been lifted off of me - though I'm still going to take Nardil at 90mg/day for a good long while and see if it works a miracle for me.

It will work. The Xanax as you are not tolerant to it. Phillipa

Mmm, yeah. Sometimes that's just how it is for a little while, until you find something that works a little better. My benzo was upped, then seroquel, low dose was added. At the time, all I wanted to do was function. I'm back on a lower dose of klonopin. I'd like to get off the seroquel. I will. but I'll do it slowly.
Good luck, take care.

I bought a great book "The Anxiety Cure An Eight-Step Program for Getting Well", and it has a section in it on benzo use. There's a chart to guide you on dosages. Under Xanax green light zone is up to 2mg day total. Yellow light is up to 4mg day total and Red light is >4mg day total. I assume this relates to go, caution, and stop. The book points out that some people may need to use the red light zone for a time to get anxiety under control.

Have you tried anything like Adderall? It can be amazing at relieving anxiety. Most people dont think a dopamine increasing Med could help anxiety, but it used to be great for me.

I think you'd be very hard pressed to find a doc in Australia who'd prescribe amphetamines for anxiety

Alprazolam is approved in diseages upto 10mg per day, and Clonazepam upto 8mg per day, so I have a lot of "wriggle room" from my current alprazolam 3mg per day if Nardil doesnt work out for me
