I think I feel better on it, but my family is telling me I'm "speedy" and hyper. I think they're wrong; they're just used to me being depressed and down.
Input?
Thanks.

Bryn what activity do they base it on? I guess any med can cause hypomania or mania. Mania would encompass more than hyperness? P

Are you having racing thoughts &/or pressured speech? I doubt you're manic, b/c it's indicated for schizophrenia & bipolar disorder. Also, you're taking such a low dose.
If you're feeling better then stick with it.

I agree, an antipsychotic would be more likely to cure mania than to cause it.

Saphris can be stimulating rather than sedating along with exerting antipsychotic and antidepressant effects. For depression, this can be a good thing. It is not unheard of, though, for certain antipsychotics to trigger mania. I imagine Zyprexa and Geodon are the most likely to do this.
It is very possible that your family is unaccustomed to seeing you with a healthy energy level. However, you should still familiarize yourself with these symptoms:

>Hi Scott,
Urghhh. Thanks for the reminder (grumble, grumble).
I don't know who to trust...I feel better depression-wise (and anxiety-wise) but maybe I am "too" up? There's just no balance. And I can't take mood stabilizers because the ones I've tried cause more depression or make me a zombie. I feel okay, but I can't (at this point) trust myself, and again, it's true that my family is very unaccustomed to seeing a "normal" me.
I think I had a day of dysphoric mania on Sunday. I was extremely agitated/grumpy/tired. But, by yesterday, it went back on an upswing. Can this be rapid cycling?
Thanks,
b

Antipsychotics can cause restlessness.
