last time you quit luvox you ended in the ER.. Damn these meds can get frustrating hey.. your regular doctor should be of help since your pdoc is in ICU! Dont CT, even tapering off meds can have real crappy withdrawl especialy since you've been on them for a while....
hmmm.. well are luvox 50mg taperable? are they solid? or capsuls with little sphere's or powder?
If you do decide to go off please taper slowly. It took me forever chopping down 20mg paxil's, then 10mg paxils until I could handel the withdrawl.
I ran out of Nardil once and was in the ER within 3 days with brain zaps that would literally drop me to my knees.

Unfortunately after your years on an ssri you more than likely have disrupted your dopamine system which in turn has has played havoc with healthy opiod production. Healthy opiod production relies on a healthy dopamine neuroendicine susbsystem. Some symtoms of a subpar opiod system would be thyroid problems, anxiety issues, and chronic aches and pains. You need to use hormones and or medications to try and rebalance your dopamine system. The smallest patch of emsam might help with dopamine rebalancing. In spite of dopamine rebalancing your opiod system may be permanently injured thru ssri insult and you would require permanent opiate supplementation (low dose ) to relieve your symptoms.

In spite of your p-doc being in the icu life moves on and you need a psychopharmacologist well versed in cutting edge philosophy and practices that would use opiates in their treatment.

I find it ironic that before the advent of modern psychiatry opiates were used for depression and a variety of mental disorders. A drug that comes from mother earth and is effective from day 1. Yet dispite billions spent by big pharm and a 100 years of research they have really not given us anything better than the opiates and in most cases vastly inferior. Makes you wonder. Maybe the answer was there all along!

Your task is to find a p-doc that is willing to work and think outside the box.

Bulldog2, How do you know this to be true?

Every second indigenous culture had psychoactive plants more satisfactory than the drugs created by the pharmaceutical industry.

I agree, Sigismund, but also think that it wouldn't work for everyone. Maybe I0%-20% would respond long-term positively.

The America of the I9th century had the so-called "patent" medicines that were often opiates or alcohol by other names. People often medicated themselves with laudenum, which was an alcoholic herbal preparation of opium. The medical profession was in it's infancy, with many quacks and just plain ignorant people practicing medicine. People were really on their own, and even if they could afford a doctor, they avoided them.

I'm in the midst of moving, so I'm really confused. What are bioidentical hormones? Is it like "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", and someone is growing an identical body to yours in the greenhouse?

Yes still in remission. P-doc had me change ritalin to adderall-xr 10 mg twice a day. I seem to have moved to a state of blissful euphoria since that change. Yes very happy with the cocktail. Also feeling quite spiritual. P-doc documenting the cocktail and it's results. He seems to have a journal in mind.

For those who are treatment resistant I recommend giving this cocktail a trial.

Thank you for your concern. I believe I read somewhere that women taking sex hormones have an increased risk of uterine and breast cancer??? Don't you worry about taking these dangerous hormones? Hope you're feeling better.

Google difference between bioidentical and synthetic that should clear up any problem. I said I was happy for you and do remember you telling me add as a child. So why question me? Google my doc's site www.carolinahealthspan.com. Then google Stanley's Pharmacy in Statesville NC. Should explain a lot. Also Woman to woman the newsletter is great at explaining. Thanks for taking an interest in me so kind. Phillipa

Bulldog,

I googled Percodan. It's Oxycodone plus aspirin. I'm guessing that most Pdocs wouldn't write a script for that for depression due to well-publicized prosecutions of certain docs? Would that be correct?

Bioidenticle does not guarantee safety. It just means identicle to what the human body produces. I know of a couple women in a forum I belong to who now have cancer after starting treatment with these compounded hormones. They both now have breast cancer. One man has prostate cancer after doing the trt protocol. Anyhow I commend you for your bravery in being a pioneer for the antiaging movement. May God go with you. My wife and I started the bioidenticle hormone protocol several summers ago and we both had to stop due to adverse reactions.

Oh took them before when going through menopause but it was one size fits all. No problems at all no side effects couldn't tolerate the horse premarin. Yup I've seen there are now quite a few FDA approved ones. Climara and Vivelle Dot For Estrogen, Promethium for progesterone even an estrogen spray Evamist. If I had good insurance would use them my next door neighbor loves them. The creams are just harder to measure in the l0ml syringes. Sometimes too much come out oh well. Practice makes perfect. Phillipa ps sorry they didn't work out for you.

Suzanne Sommers uses an anti-aging place called Cenegenics. Supposed to be marvelous. I believe $10,000 a year cover all tests and hormones.

Actually I don't like the way Suzanne is doing it as she's pulsing and believes in Wiley treatment I don't nor does my doc. Wonder where Dr. Phil's wife goes more credence in her but I like my doc simple to do hormone testing. Phillipa
