Psychologically Scared

Posted by your#1fan on March 1, 2008, at 0:34:31

Listen babblers,

I need you to read my posts. But at the same time the post that i just posted really "told all".

This event is going to take place next August, my mom and stepdad want to gain trust with me with medication (Prozac, Xanax) which my mom doesnt trust me with some of meds. What may happen is that she will eventaully see that im a responsible adult and let me take medication on my own.

So i didnt want to make it seem "here is a plan" "get out of the house" there is too much for me handle, i would really flip out. I have to rely on my parents, there my source right now. But i can't.........hold a job..go to school..and pay my own medical, rent, car. Its too much.

I would have no time what so ever, and work would be my life.

So maybe can you maybe straight advice "move out", You see i cant handle it. Its too much for me to handle!

My also tonight just cant stop thinking about this, i cant sleep.

Wish me luck! and thank your for all readers!

This is a very good point -- showing yourself that you are an emancipated adult and proving through positive actions that you are capable. I'm sorry to hear that they are overseeing your medications though, I mean if you haven't attempted to harm yourself that is and pushed their panic button -- you are the adult here and it is your doctor-patient relationship, if you have it set up that way. You can sign off your parents from the relationship too if they are in it -- but I'm not a lawyer, so this would depend on where you are.

Break down each piece and make a list, is a very good idea, I think. Keep a diary. Try with all your might, and this is very hard, to focus on one task at a time and in time one can do more than one might think.

> I would have no time what so ever, and work would be my life.

One possible explanation here is that you are afraid of living -- work is a part of life. I'm not saying this to be harsh. I do feel for you because I am struggling to get there.

> So maybe can you maybe straight advice "move out", You see i cant handle it. Its too much for me to handle!

Then maybe don't yet while you're still dealing with a psychological/psychiatric condition that is intense, it is hard to "abandon the nest". See the above comments.

> My also tonight just cant stop thinking about this, i cant sleep.

Your head is filled with thoughts I think, obviously. Try meditation and then think of where you want to be in life in the next month, next year, etc.

sorry, i've been getting yall mixed up!

Work is a part of life, and many people are afraid, but i used to have a job at the GAP, i hated it (5am-2pm). I talked all the time on the assembly line, because i was bored.....there was no life in it! just openining packeges...not saying anything i hated that job, i talked non-stop about random things and people got nerve'd by it. Well who cares? I worked from 2006-2007, 1 year and a half.

I've got to get the mind set that life is not about serinity, i've gotta get the mind set of a workaholic, and i aint talkin' just to talk. I need to really know that work, is a part of real real life. Get out of daze mode, non-control of my life mode.

If i keep a diary (which i will lose severeal) thats a fact...you know..i have posted i lose everything, including sanity sometimes. But i'll put that at rest.

I would develop alter ego's to help, if i just "hopped out". It would be tramatizing, i would just be shot shot shot to hell, and praying to god every second. Like i've thought i just getting a Ticket to New York City and Get out of here! but where would that get me? in some deep deep hole.

Thanks for the adivce and know that i do my best to respond back. Its usally at night, like its 1:04am currently CT time.

I disagree. I do not believe that you "gotta get" any sort of mindset about work. I do not believe that trying to force your mind into alien channels would provide any benefit to you.

My husband works a lot. He's very, very good at what he does. He is not a workaholic -- he just happens to love the work he does, he's interested in it, and he wants to see what comes next. (Well, right now he's not loving work, but that's a different story.) That's a much healthier way to face work, in my not at all humble opinion...

That said, I wrote most of what I wanted to say in two long posts above. I won't bother to repeat myself.

No, actually that is about as far from what I really want to communicate to you as it's possible to get.

Here it is, easy idea, difficult to take in:

What I'm trying to tell you, and have been for a very long time, is that you are OK as you are. You don't need to be anything or anyone else -- and you'll be a hell of a lot happier and more content once you learn that. Life is a lot easier when we accept who we are, and work towards our strengths -- rather than trying to be someone we just plain aren't.

You don't need to develop a workaholic attitude -- you need to learn that YOU are enough. You don't need to grow some vague thing called willpower -- you need to learn who you are, what your strengths are, and what you can do to develop those strengths.

What's more, although it's a hell of a lot harder to do without medication, it can be done. It can be done successfully. The first step is to decide that it's worth doing, the second step is to make the decision that you will do it.

Good luck.

This is right, but boy, it can take a long long time to learn it.

And I'll be sure to tell you exactly how long -- just as soon as I get there myself...

I've been following your posts for awhile and you have been getting some really great advice from people who care and want to support you..

One thing I've noticed is that you get extremely upset when you lose things. I don't have ADHD but I lose at least 3 pairs of mittens per winter..I have to write things on my hand cause I'll lose the note I wrote things on but I can't lose my hand..I lose toques, scarves, my med alert bracelet, earrings..you name it I've lost it..I even lost my mind once....(that's why my nick is

It's just part of my nature to be forgetful especially when I'm in a rush..so instead of being angry and exasperated at myself, I've learned to accept that's just the way I am and have learned to find some humour in it..

I rely heavily on a calendar to keep myself organized, even down to small things..and my hand is always covered in notes..now when I lose something I just swear and say crap, not again..shake it off, and go about my business..and sometimes I find what I've lost when i retrace my steps..if not, oh well..once in awhile I'm lucky and find a lost mitten pinned to the post office wall.

My wish for you is that you try to accept yourself just as you are..please try not to sweat the small stuff so much..you might find some peace within yourself..

I go nuts, i am nuts sometimes i think.......

I have to accept reality but sometimes i dont want to accept it. I want ot make my own reality, and make it come true. Well if i lost my keys, go through some hassle, try to find them desprelty, or just get antoher set. Now if i lost my books...and term papers i would lose my mind. I would.

The thing is, my mind doesnt think corrently with reality, and then it gets frutrated with me because i dont catch on to things. Like life and stuff.

Thank im about to pass out on my laptop.
