My pdoc was suggesting that I try Sinequin and I have never heard of it. Has anyone used it? He's trying to find an AD that will not effect high blood pressure.

I took a very low dose of Sinequan many years ago for pain. I couldn't tolerate it, because it lowered my blood pressure too much, and the dose was below therapeutic for depression, anyway, so I can't tell you whether it was effective.
It's a tricyclic, hits NE and 5HT, as well as some of the histamine receptors and I think acetylcholine. I know I've heard of it being well tolerated, and I can't help but think it won't raise blood pressure... The generic name is doxepin, if that helps you at all.
If you haven't tried a tricyclic, it's probably well worth trying.
Good luck.

Were you on it for long and did it make you gain weight? I know the tricyclics are famous for weight gain. Do you mind my asking if you're on any meds for blood pressure?
Thanks, Karen

I was on Prozac for over 10 yrs and just tapered off. I wanted to try the Ensam patch but pdoc is afraid because I have high blood pressure (but well under control with meds). He has also suggested Imipramine but these are tricyclics and famous for weight gain which I don't want. I'm trying to lose the weight I put on with Prozac.

No, no blood pressure meds -- my normal BP is about 90/60, so a "blood pressure" med for me would probably RAISE it so that I didn't fall down so much...
TCAs are notorious for a lot of side effects, including weight gain. Desipramine is supposed to be pretty weight/blood pressure neutral, if that helps. For weight gain, you might talk to your doctor about medications to mitigate it. Sometimes an acid reducer helps, other times other medications -- like Topomax -- can help.
Good luck.

I've tried doxapin and it is fairly good. It is a bit of a deleriant, but it helps depression.

No, I stopped because I couldn't get a doctor to represcribe it. I thought it was a good med, I would have continued.
