Yes, it was like night and day. I went from wanting to do nothing but sleep and/or die to doing everything. In fact I think I hurt my back today around hour 5 of digging a new ditch beside the road to the lower field. Yes night and day. There is a price associated with it though. I've really had to learn to control my temper as EMSAM likely increases it several fold. I can only sleep about 4.5 hours / day and I have multiples (if you know what I mean) (I'm male btw). I take nothing else. I know I'll catch a lot of fire for saying this, but I think if you have to take multiple meds for any single problem, you're likely on the wrong Rx. Then I realize some deal with more than one issue, where as my problem was primarily just extreme anhedonia.

So you have more than one diagnosis is that correct? And if only one diagnosis than one med should do it? Is that correct? Love Phillipa

If you think one should take only one med, does that include sleep meds? Your temper might be from the irritability caused by lack of sleep.
For sleep, I'd suggest seroquel. It's an atypical AP, but at low doses is used quite a bit for insomnia.
If you don't want to try that, maybe ambien would be enough, but I find that with Emsam, I need seroquel.
You also could take the patch off when you go to bed and put it on six or seven hours later-- which has also worked well for me. I don't know what dose you're on, but you could try a higher dose during the day and then 6-8 hours off at night. This assumes that you could get back to sleep after getting up and putting a patch on. I've been able to, but I sometimes use Sonata (a short half-life sleep med) to get back to sleep. However, I generally have insomnia, which you may not.
