Above is for my own benefit - stops me from wandering too far away from the point.
Hi Snapper,
The remedy for rumination is getting out of the house/flat and doing something. Rumination strikes when we are doing nothing. Rumination is circular thinking which ends at the point at which it begun. As such it is self-destructive.

I totally sympathise...sometimes it seems that all I can do is wish for the better days. But were they better days? I don't know, I suppose it's just the wish to escape our present pain to any other time. I always feel that regret is a major thought-pattern when I am low too.
I don't know if it helps but I try and remember that these negative thoughts aren't real..

The idea of a second patented 505(b)(2) medication to parallel extend the patent of an original medication instead of companies besides Teva entering the generic foray is absurd. I've never heard of it before until now.
That means that those behind the original agreements/manufacture of Pexeva can collect premium money because their compound is of a different salt ending than the original product, all of which actually contain paroxetine, just doesn't happen to be the hydrochloride.
Substitutions can't be made for paroxetine HCl because it is now a mesylate (salt of methanesulfonic acid) instead of the hydrochloride without the doctor's consent instead of an AB generic...Someone is getting more wealthy, considering the $25 sample coupons.

p.s. I thought you were continuing with Luvox ?

Jay yup she gave me a $25 coupon too. I see the endocrinologist tomorrow and since my thryroid has now become hyper no changes till I see him. And seriously I'm so confused I don't know what I'm going to do. She really lets me do what I want. So maybe luvox? Honestly I just don't know and now she says that the benzos don't work anymore for me and says keeps taking them and add seroquel. I'm spinning. Love Jan

?? They don't work but keep taking. I thought you were on Valium for your whole life and it helped in some way and your dose never particularly escalated.
and add seroquel. I'm spinning. Love Jan
Trying a small dose of Seroquel as an adjunct isn't too bad.. it may make the Luvox work better (provided you get up to enough of a dose of it, I don't know where you are.) If you don't want to take the Luvox, then you have to ramp down and cross over to paroxetine (Paxil), which I remembered also suffers from a shorter half life if I recall. Augmentation is frequent with neuroleptics for hard OCD cases.
Hmm... your doctor should have some control over what is going on I would think for her license... but at any rate... I thought you were going along slowly up on the Luvox. Kinda have to stick to one or the other. Paxil is 2nd in line as far as sedating SSRIs. It has a slight reputation as a weight gainer although the amount is not particularly large for most compared to other notorious medications.

Jay I haven't escalated the dose. I'm still at 20mg of valium. She did give me that new dissoving xanax to try during the day but I didn't take it during the day. Tried it once .5mg and it did nothing.
Don't laugh but I'm only at 25mg of luvox. I had gotten up to l50mg a few months ago before I went back to her from the other pdoc. So when I saw her she lowered it to 25mg. Who knows why.
And I don't really have OCD. I just do things my way. No counting, handwashing, but I guess the fact that I'm worrying all the time could be considered rumination. And I am horrible til at least 2pm. So I'm not taking seroquel till the test results are back. He did all the thyroid stuff, and since autoimmune diseases run in my family and my Mother had Addison's disease and psoriasis all over her body and rheumatoid arthritis, he is also doing cortisol levels and it was through blood and since I had a small adenoma through MRI on my pituitary a bunch of pituitary tests. He even asked if I lactated. Did'nt know this was from the pituitary answer is no. Love Phillipa

.5mg of Xanax is not actually a lot in terms of Valium equivalency, it is 5mg of Valium, which you are used to. But it has an "immediacy" effect that Valium (especially over time) lacks as much.
> Don't laugh but I'm only at 25mg of luvox. I had gotten up to l50mg a few months ago before I went back to her from the other pdoc. So when I saw her she lowered it to 25mg. Who knows why.
I'm not laughing, it is between you and your doctor but 25mg is really almost a placebo for Luvox, even though it has a wide dosage range, it basically is just a test dose to see that you're not allergic to it. Now one may think that someone older may need less, that's possible, but I don't think that much less.
> And I don't really have OCD. I just do things my way. No counting, handwashing, but I guess the fact that I'm worrying all the time could be considered rumination. And I am horrible til at least 2pm.I'm the opposite with problems, evening is the worst...
I wasn't saying you had OCD, I was saying its used for augmentation. But its also equally used for other anxiety conditions. But your summary of rumination is slightly in that spectrum.
So I'm not taking seroquel till the test results are back.
I understand.
He did all the thyroid stuff
That's one I get fairly regularly..
, and since autoimmune diseases run in my family and my Mother had Addison's disease and psoriasis all over her body and rheumatoid arthritis, he is also doing cortisol levels and it was through blood and since I had a small adenoma through MRI on my pituitary a bunch of pituitary tests.
MRIs can reveal benign conditions too because of their level of investigation; mine revealed I had evidence of past sinus disease.
Cortisol is usually through urine because blood is inaccurate, it fluctuates too much and you use a jar the whole day. That's surprising. Mine came back normal but it is usually an invasive test.

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003703.htm
It can be done by blood but it has to be done at several times in the day and from what I know it isn't as accurate. But your health professional may think otherwise.
He even asked if I lactated. Did'nt know this was from the pituitary answer is no. Love Phillipa

Jay you know in my late 20's they thought I had Cushing Disease have no idea why that doc in CT decided to do the 24hour urine to see. It came back dubious so I had to repeat it. They decided I just drank a lot of fluids as I filled two bottles. And I've often thought that was what my Mother had as when they took her to the hospital they gave her ACTH and her symptoms fit Cushings. I googled it once. Look this guy is a noted endocrinologist and if he thinks blood is okay I'm going with that as when I lost my taste and smell two years ago and when to DC and to the Taste and Smell Clinic I had to do a 24hour urine and it was a pain as we were in a hotel. Love Jan Ps she gave me seroquel too and said to play with it. Oh I have a new pdoc appointment. Google V Sagar Sethi he wrote a book that's what you'll see " Soving Psychiatric Puzzles". He's Indian and is sick of what the insurance companies are doing to psych health care . I read his book first. And my Daughter sees him.
