Sounds like what the symptoms of "let down", which oxytocin treats, are similar to depression to some degree. This is an explanation of why oxytocin nasal spray and IV are used for what they are currently used for (it has phsyiological mechanisms also that aren't mentioned):
"You sometimes may notice that your milk does not flow easily, or let-down, when you attempt to breast-feed or use a breast pump. Emotional stress, fatigue, anxiety, smoking, pain, or being cold are common causes of poor let-down.
With poor let-down, you may not experience the tingling and leaking of milk that usually occurs when your milk begins to flow. Poor let-down may lead to sore nipples because the baby has to suck harder to get milk or you have to pump longer to collect milk.
Increasing your comfort and level of relaxation often improves let-down. If this does not work, an oxytocin nasal spray is available by prescription to aid let-down."

They have oxytocin as a prescription. You mean the "cuddle hormone". ?

It's tricky to find but it is definitely available by prescription, it's names are Pitosin, Toesen, and Syntocinon (Synthetic oxycontin). I want to give it a try.

They use pitosin to induce labor don't they? It's off label for that, is it off label for helping with "let down" also? What is this drug prescribed for?

I know this is a tricky word, notice what you actually spelled!! I was about to say try injecting heroin first, it has less addiction potential.
YES! Oxytocin sounds really promising. I never thought of it for depression, but severe social disorders (autism, strong social phobia, and definitly avoidant personality) are at least hypothesized to repsond extremely well and its only a matter of time for these studies to be done. Its stupid that it has taken so long for people to think that this hormone could help in retrospect, then again I didnt think about it, I suppose. The above disorders have major overlap with depression and eerriicc what you said lends to the idea that it would help people who are depressed, but/and like I said, I think we'll be hearing ALOT more about this stuff with time, probably in many areas of psychiatry. I'll tell you though, If I could get it now I would be an eager guinea pig.

Yeah, I was pretty tired and half in shock, but I don't remember my wife being particularly cuddly during that time.

Oxytocin can also induce multiple orgasms according to my previous doctor.

Obtaining oxytocin is not that difficult, I definetly want to see how it effects me; I'll post.
