Doesn't it feel wonderful to feel good!!
If you were able to be in control when you had your previous time with feeling so good, then maybe you will be lucky and get to enjoy Nardil without my type of disaster. I hope you can.
However,if you react like I did, hide your money, don't make any important decisions, make sure you practice safe actions, and come down slowly but steadily.
You sound like me when I had an extreme high. I spent about $3000.00 dollars of my life-savings, was up night and day, thought I could become a business-person on a wing and a word, thought I could accomplish anything, drove very recklessly for me, etc. I had never felt so good in all my life, so it is very hard to give up the feeling; if one could just put it in a bottle, and use it bit by bit, it would be nice. up 'n' down

Hey ace,are you using the american brand by PFZIFER.

I ask cause along with that i have a brand by links pharmictiucal, attempting a nardil change is still an option and id like to know if the link nardil is ok to use?

Do you know if its any bit inferior?

Also ace what might be happening is the nardil might be letting u feel like urself, and when the depression digging is done,u are seeing what your personality is minus depression.

I say this because although others have success, you seem to have such a robust response!!

Perhaps its the real you being able to arise is what the great feeling is.Either way cheers although a lot of people are prob jealous were definatly happy there is a success story riding out there, gives some hope!

Hey ACE,

As a former nardil user of 10 years, I have been there many times myself ... It is like being on top of the world! Congratulation ACE, you deserve relief from depression/social phobia!

My problem with nardil was a 30 lbs weight gain, insomnia, memory problems, sexual dysfunction ... I wish I didn't get those side effects.

Congrats again! Have a kick$#s weekend!

I get it from the LInk Pharmaceuticals. All the Nardil available has the same active ingridients I'm thinking....But whatever Nardil I take it is brilliant.

It just kills depression and really makes my normal personality even happier...ie I joke more, laugh more, more motivated, It doesn't just change my personality. No drug does that really I think.

Sure. Well guys and girls...FOLLOW MY LEAD!!!! Nardil is proven to work extremely well in 90-95% of cases. Why do we even have SSRI's??!!!

Thanks Ace! Reading your post just put a pleasant tingle down my spine!

I'm gonna go back on Nardil after getting in a right mess with Marplan (more like 'Bad-plan!).

I know exactly how you feel and would do (almost) anything to get that feeling back!

So thanks for sharing your success with us. And may it last and last and last and last.........

Dear Ace;

I'm glad that you can feel so good and maintain. The Nardil exposed in me the truth of a further dx. of Bi-polarI/II, and that episode I had was a true manic episode. However, I did not have marvellous results from Nardil, but consistently good after I went through the first 5 years of side effects. Then I began to retain too much serotonin in my system after 15 years total on it. It was imperative that I stop taking it, and we tried tapering, but my systoms were so bad, I just had to go off completely. I lived through it, but it wasn't fun.
I am still a believer in Nardil because it brought me out of an horrible abyss and saved my life. It is good you have diseases that it can help so well. With each of our individual systems, and the medications available's different effects, no wonder it is hard to find the right match! up 'n' down

Hey Up and Down,

During my years with nardil I could never figure out if it was making me hypomanic. I was definately engaging in more "pleasurable" activities ... very talkative, little need for sleep, dating alot, going out to diner all the time. How do you figure out if it is true hypomania or you are just acting like "normal" people? I was thinking maybe sleep was a good indication.

Hi Smith562. Thats an interesting thought and I suppose some people will inevitibly become hypomanic on Nardil. One of the first things I asked my doctor when Nardil first took hold was "do I seem hypomanic?"! But this is what I actually think.

The majority of people who end up on Nardil have been through alot of meds. Their symptoms are chronic and ongoing and they've had little success with any med. They feel despirate to find some peace - they just want a chance to be themselves, maybe for the first time ever.

Suddenly, along comes a drug that alows them to be everything they ever wanted to be and do. No more 'meaningless' fear, embarrasement, self-consiosness. And there's an incredible urge to do all the things you've been longing to do for all those years, things most people take for granted (dating, education/work, just being around people). Its like you just cant do these things quick enough! This isn't hypomania, this is freedom at last.

Pitty that for some it doesnt last. Still, Where There's a Will, There's a Way.

Hi,
I really hate to be the wet blanket here, but please watch out for the hypomania symptoms.
I know from experience that medication induced hypomainia can be very dangerous. As I posted before, to anyone with atypical depression and Social Anxiety Disorder, the hypomanic feeling is very intoxicating. We want so much to feel better that this high just can't be bad.

In one study sited below, hypomania/mania was the the most common reason for cessation of phenelzine. Nardil is still the only medication that has ever worked for my treatment resistant atypical depression and Social Anxiety Disorder.
Take care,
Jedi

Common side effects associated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors.

Remick RA, Froese C, Keller FD.

Department of Psychiatry, University Hospital - U.B.C. Site, Vancouver, Canada.

There is relatively little documentation on the common side effects associated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) and their frequency of occurrence. A retrospective chart review of patient records in a Mood Disorders Service was completed. Side effects of patients receiving phenelzine (N = 42) and tranylcypromine (N = 19) were rated as mild (resulting in no change in treatment), moderate (some modification in treatment plan necessary), and severe (definite change in treatment plan or drug discontinuation due to MAOI side effect). A total of 35 reports of side effects were noted in 15 of 19 tranylcypromine patients (1.84 per patients) and a total of 125 side effect reports were noted in 39 of 42 phenelzine patients (2.98 per patient). Only two severe tranylcypromine side effects occurred (resulting in drug cessation for one of these patients - hypotension), while 9 severe reactions occurred with phenelzine, resulting in drug discontinuation in 6 of these patients. The side effects for tranylcypromine and the number of reports were insomnia (N = 10), sedation (N = 8), hypotension (N = 5), sexual dysfunction (N = 3), hypomania (N = 3), weight gain/edema (N = 2), hypertensive episode (N = 2), and myoclonic jerking (N = 2). The number of reports of phenelzine side effects were insomnia (N = 26), hypomania/mania (N = 27; most common reason for drug cessation - 4), hypotension (N = 16; three cases considered severe), weight gain/edema (N = 15), sedation (N = 15), sexual dysfunction (N = 13), hypertensive episode (N = 6), and myoclonic jerking (N = 7).(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)

I'm sorry it took me so long to answer. I have not been online for a time.

Yes, I do think sleep is a good indicator of what state we are in - depression, hypomania, mania, etc. With Nardil, I was in each of these moods, but mostly within reason.
In thinking back on my history, I remembered that when I had my worst manic epi, I was also on cortisone for a very bad case of poison ivy.My dosage was fairly high to begin with.
Has anyone else been on cortisone and noticed it increasing their feelings of well being or even producing mania??

Hey Ace,

I'm glad this drug is working for you. I hope that it will do the same for me. I'm going on Nardil for social anxiety. The SSRIs helped with my depression, but not the anxiety so I decided to try this out and see.
But I'm confused about your post. You said that you regained the sense of euphoria that you originally gained from the drug at a lower dose. Does this mean that the euphoric feeling wears off, and will wear off again for you after a while on the higher does of 105 mg? I guess I'm just checking in to see if you're still feeling the same as you did when you first up-ed it to the higher dose.
Also, when the euphoric feeling wore off after the initial dose, was your anxiety still better? I can see that at first it may cause me to be euphoric, which is fun and all, but all I need is to not have anxiety. What was your experience?
I'm starting a blog about my experiences going off the SSRIs and onto the Nardil. I have to be off SSRIs for two weeks before I start the Nardil and I thought it would be good stuff to write down, because I know I'm going to stir up some good crazy. So far I'm surviving, but hanging on the hope that Nardil's going to free me up a bit. So feel free to check it out if you're interested, I'm on week two of being off the SSRIs so I am in the midst of insanity. But I'm hanging in there. Crazy crazy crazy. Ya check it out... as of now nobody's looking at this thing except me. Share in the adventure of, hopefully, from crazy to sane...
