Well for me its working perfectly. It's almost like Im not taking anything at all, cept I can DO things now and the tension is gone.
If people are taking this med for years at levels of like 300mg, why suddenly want to come off of it?
Is it because they realize that comming off of it is hard and they feel locked in, or is it because of side effects?

It seems that many people who are on it for many years are wanting to wean off of it.
If you are on it for years, I would assume its working...
Is it because people want to see if they can handle life off of it?
Is it because of side effects?
Is it becuase they KNOW its hard to get off of therefore they are scared of being so dependant?

>Hi. I stopped Effexor because it stopped working for me. It was great for about 4 years, then not so great for about a year and then finally quit doing anything at all for depression, though it still controlled my anxiety. But after trying several other drugs and then going back to Effexor, eventually it didn't even work for the anxiety. And now (3 1/2 months off Effexor), I'm experiencing much worse anxiety than before I ever went on it. So that's why I quit it.

> MarshaHI everyone, I have been on it for about 2 years and recently switched to 300 mg wellbutrin and reduced my does of 300mg effexor to 150. Now my sex drive has improved and the effexor mediates the anxiety from the wellbutrin.
How-ever I would love to reduce my effexor to 75mg if possible. What freaks me out is the withdrawal, it happens so fast and is scary to me to feel "locked in". That is how it feels. I was paxil before effexor and really crashed during the switch.
Anyway, effexor worked pretty well for me, except for the loss of my sex drive!>
