Hi. I stopped Effexor because it stopped working for me. It was great for about 4 years, then not so great for about a year and then finally quit doing anything at all for depression, though it still controlled my anxiety. But after trying several other drugs and then going back to Effexor, eventually it didn't even work for the anxiety. And now (3 1/2 months off Effexor), I'm experiencing much worse anxiety than before I ever went on it. So that's why I quit it.
