It was great for about 4 years, then not so great for about a year and then finally quit doing anything at all for depression, though it still controlled my anxiety. But after trying several other drugs and then going back to Effexor, eventually it didn't even work for the anxiety. And now (3 1/2 months off Effexor), I'm experiencing much worse anxiety than before I ever went on it. So that's why I quit it.

How-ever I would love to reduce my effexor to 75mg if possible. What freaks me out is the withdrawal, it happens so fast and is scary to me to feel "locked in". That is how it feels. I was paxil before effexor and really crashed during the switch.
Anyway, effexor worked pretty well for me, except for the loss of my sex drive!>
