Problem with reemission may results from REM supress.Do not take Parnate after 1 am. I made this mistake, because I did not have problems with insomnia. I will report soon how Parnate works with this caution.

Hi Ixie,
Are you gonna take 10mg three times a day with all three doses in the morning?? Maxime takes Parnate as a single daily dose, some people like to divide it.
Yours,
Ed.

Maxime takes Parnate as a single daily dose, some people like to divide it.It might be helpful to divide doses to several times during the day to minimize hypotension. I had more sleep problems if I took it after 3:00pm Also, I think splitting the dosage makes sense, especially at the higher dosages. I take 40mg at breakfast and 40mg at noon or shortly thereafter.

> /ixusI have found that supplementing Parnate with amino acids REALLY helps. Lately I have been using D-Phenylalanine, which seems to greatly increase the effects of Parnate. Also, I have been using DMAE, which (for reasons I dont know) has allowed me to actually DECREASE the amount of Klonopin I take. (I really want to get off the K!)
Again, the only thing that actually helps me sleep (get to sleep, and stay asleep) is melatonin..but taking your 2nd dose of Parnate before noon REALLY helps.

scott,
i haven't been watching the meds board much so i didn't realize you had settled on parnate after your attempt with cymbalta.
parnate really worked the best for me but due to the codicil about not taking emergency allergy meds (i.e., benadryl, epedrine(?)) i decided to go off it.
if i wanted to go back on parnate is there anything you know of that one could take with it for emergencies regarding airway constriction?
thanks i really appreciate your opinion.

I've wondered about this too. People take Parnate and Dexedrine, so you should be able to take low doses of pseudoephedrine with it. Any ideas?

What about NE beta-2 agonists? What about anticholinergics?
I think either or both of these types of drugs should be safe with Parnate, but I would encourage you to look into it further. Unfortunately, I really don't have the time right now to do the research. My computer crashed this weekend, and I'm trying to catch up with program installations. Despite regular backups, I still lost some precious files.

I think it is worth pursuing the idea that these types of decongestants are actually safe. My guess is that they are. The big no-no would be using dextromethorphan as a cough suppressant.

Some people can and some people can't. I would certainly try though. I would just make sure I had an emergency med to take just in case. It's kind of like the diet, some people have to adhere to it, and then there are people like me who can eat anything and have no reaction (except soy sauce).
It's funny. There are so many people who are afraid of certain meds and what you can mix with what and they are very cautious. I'm the exact opposite. I'll try anything once within reason and see how it goes and if I have a reaction I don't take it again.

Someone recently posted about his experience taking a decongestant with an MAOI. It wasn't pretty.http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/20050510/msgs/497646.html
