Hi all,
I am hypoglycemic. How can I function at the glucose level ranging from 60-80mg/dl?
Does anyone knows how to treat this? Is it a cause or symptom of my mental problems?

I think that's only slightly low?
Perhaps the tranylcypromine is responsible:

you know, I don't have a doctor now. I was adviced by several psychiatrists but no one told to check sugar level. Perhaps I need to go to some diabetologist. My anxiety has always been worse after meals.
I bought glucometer and checked the level few times and compared with my friends. While they have 130-140 I have only 60-70 at the same time.

Ixus, Your blood sugar is in the normal range. Anything over l00 is considered prediabetic. Over l20 and you have definite high blood sugar. So you have a very good blood sugar. It's not too low. Eat 6 high protein small meals a day. This will help to stabalize your blood sugar. Protein is digested much slower than a simple carbohydrate as sugar, bread, etc. And fats are the slowest to metabolize. Fondly, Phillipa

hypoglycemia is an opposite condition to hiperglycemia (diabetic). 60 mg/dl is not a normal value.

Ixus, Maybe I'm confused by your post. I was always told I had low blood sugar also. But I've reread your post and am confused by what you mean. I took out my last labs drawn in December. My glucose was 74. The normal range is listed as 65-99mg/dl. Are you saying that your blood glucose remained that low at an hour after eating? In that case you need to test it before meals to see if it is much lower than the normal ranges. My glucose was a nonfasting sample. I really am confused by what you mean. If you are anxious after meals, maybe you are eating something you are allergic to. Please explain as I am a nurse and this would not be considered an abnormal blood sugar even in a diabetic. Insulin wouldn't be held. If the reading were high, a sliding scale of insulin is always provided by the Md and regular insulin would be administered according to how high the blood sugar was. I suffered from hypoglycemia for 10 years only to find it was caused by diet coke. Diet coke or more specificly nutra-sweet or Aspartame. I have even discussed this with Doctors who say that in some people nutra-sweet causes hypoglycemia and MS symptoms and worse.
How did I find out? I drank 2-3 diet cokes a day for 10 years after they switched from Saccharin to nutra sweet. One day I went on a weight loss diet giving up Diet Coke and other junk foods. 2 weeks later my "lifelong hypoglycemia" was gone.
Listen, there was a guy at work who never had diabetic symptoms till he drank Diet Coke. He is now on three medications but still stupidly refuses to give up Diet Coke. If you drink Diet drinks with nutra-sweet or in any other way use this product. Give it up for 2 weeks, you might find that Hypoglycemia and other strange symptoms will disappear.
I still drink regular Coke often and don't suffer any of those symptoms. Dump Dump Dump nutra-sweet it's poison.
