First of all, lunesta should be on the market by the end of March. Some people find that Ambien together with Remeron helps people sleep through the night. Be aware though that possible side effects include dry mouth and nose. Trazadone alone works for a lot of people. I would stay away from the anti-psychotics and anti-seizure meds. As far as withdrawal from Benzodiazepines, one would start by switching to Klonopin because it has a very long half life. Then one would take it from there.

I seen my doc last week and she gave me the green light for it,thinks its a good idea too.She says they dont have the info to prescribe it yet,its too new,but the sec its avaialable shell prescribe it,as well as give me samples if she gets any.We both agreed to hold off on ambien, since i waited this long waiting a week or two would make since.Im hoping good rest,a scheldued sleep cycle might be a major player for me,its early still but i know they are saying the sleep it provides has shown to carry over to providing anti depressant benifits in some cases as well.

I've been taking Ambien for awhile for my insomnia induced by Remeron withdrawal and it hasn't been working that great. When I read about Lunesta on the net I decided to ask my nurse practitioner about it and she said it was exactly the same as Ambien and wouldn't prescribe it for me! Well, according to what I've read, its better than Ambien and can be used the for long-term treatment of insomnia. Does anyone happen to know? I guess I'm going to have to find a new pdoc so I can try it. :(

Search the Archives. I know there are two Threads that pertain to Lunesta and give a website for info. I know because I printed that info and showed it to my old pdoc. That must have been in January 05. It is for chronic insomnis, nonaddictive, and has antidepressant qualities. Supposed to be out end of month. Fondly, Phillipa

Below is an interactive webcast on sleep pharmcotherapy. keep in mind that this presentation was made by the makers of Ambien (Sanofi), and has some not-so-subtle lack of objectiveness in its review of the the newer drug therapies under development. Nevertheless, it is somewhat informative...
launch the webcast. The section probably most of interest is "Future Therapies for Managing Sleep Disturbances"http://www.cmecafe.com/cmecafe/sleep04.asp
