Hi everybody,
Things are going much better lately. I've been on Parnate for 4 weeks now, the last two at 100mg per day. I hadn't noticed too much of a response until I started experimenting with some vitamins/minerals and then things made a huge turn for the better.
I've recently added some supplements to my regimand but what I feel has made the most difference is the addition of the vitamins, B6, B12, and folic acid. Within a couple days my energy has greatly improved as well as my disposition. I had heard before that B12 and folic acid can help antidepressants do their job more effectively if you're deficient in them. That may have been the case with me. I'm currently taking, 200mg B6, 1000mcg B12, and 1000mcg folic acid. It basically feels like night and day.
I was doing a internet search and some of the signs/symptoms I have seemed to keep coming up. Tinnitus, hearing loss, premature greying of hair, ridges on my fingernails, and fatigue. They may be indicative of a B12 deficiency. The greying of my hair and fatigue started stortly after I took accutane at age 17. Accutane is supposedly known to cause the depletion of B12 I just read after doing a google search. I've had ridges on my finger nails since I was an early teenager, and the tinnitus/hearing loss I've had for the last 3 years or so. It's not definitive of course but a good working theory at this point, especially since I feel so much better as of late. It could also be the folic acid and B6 that are making me feel better, or some other unknown factor. It's also possible the Parnate magically kicked around the same time I started the B vitamins. It's hard to definitely say at the moment without proper experimentation. I don't really care as long as it's gone and it stays that way. :)
So for now I have 100 remission of my depressive symptoms and pretty much 90-95% of my social anxiety is gone which is damn pretty good at this point.
One of my own personal theories of AD poopout is the vitamin/mineral deficiencies drugs can cause over time. It may be possible that if a drug stops working or doesn't work in the first place it may be because one is missing a necessarily enzyme/cofactor for the medication to do it's job properly.
I'm also going to try and get ahold of some TMG(trimethyl-glycine) to perhaps further aid my response. If it's related to homocysteine levels and SAMe then it's possible it cause even more improvement. I just bought some DMG (there wasn't any TMG) today but after doing some further research I'm not as optimistic about it's efficacy. I'll have to see if I can find another supplier somewhere. It's supposed to work synergistically with B6, B12, and folic acid for reducing homocysteine and increasing SAMe naturally.
Hope everyone is well,
Brian

Glad to hear your doing well, makes sense those are important energy nutrients period, stress alone can wreak havoc on em,i need to get my butt in gear and get some myself.
One thing though, you mentioned DMG,well just for fyi DMG in my opinion is not a normal otc supplement, the dimethylglycine the sublingual form goes directly in to the blood stream and is 100 percent effcient in crossing into the brain,in fact i believe there was once a attempt or inquery on making it a medication.
Its extremly stimulating, kept me up for days and days,i pin pointed it when i harmlessy gave my brother a pieace who had no problems in our area, and he causualy complained he hadent slept for days, thats when i remebered i gave it to him,and my brother never ever ever has trouble sleeping.
It also seemed to worsen depression,as well as it did not go with parnate,i remeber having a bad headche with it,im not discouraging u from trying it,i mean you are taking a very high dose of parnate and it might not have the same effects, when i did it i was taking like 30 mg of parnate, anyhoo just take it slow,i just wanna warn u its not ur typical laid back nutrient, its potent, good luck and please keep us posted i know im watching all parnate and nardil posts.

Great to hear that Parnate is kicking in for you. I will be starting Parnate in a couple weeks. This will be at least the 17 year that I have used it in the spring. It's effectiveness lasts only for three months then I try other things or nothing. Allthough I do not agree with your theory about vitamin deficiency caused by AD's, I feel that everyone is different so may be it is a factor in others. My theory for my disorder is that Parnate shifts hormonal rhythms in my endocrine system, but over time my biochemistry becomes accostomed to it and reverts to its abnormal rhythm. The reason for this abnormal rhythm to begin with is a deficiency in a hormonal protein by the name of Inhibin B, but that is a another long tale to explain how I came to this conclusion. Best wishes.

The fact that it increases SAMe(well TMG at least) in conjuction with B6, B12, and folic acid, makes me think it may act like rocket fuel when added to Parnate. I've been thinking that I may have to decrease my Parnate dosage as I am getting such a great response as of late. I don't want to push over the edge in to hypomania which is possible if I start playing with the SAMe system.

From what I've read it has been used extensively in athletics for energy, recovery, and endurance with good response. I'll have to watch it myself to see if it effects my sleep patterns. I know Parnate is supposed to cause insomnia as well, although I haven't experienced that yet.

I seem to pay particular attention to Parnate and Nardil posts as well, although I imagine that is a common thing to do... looking at posts with people taking similar drugs.

Hey Opt!
Sounds like everything's going fantastic!
>Accutane is supposedly known to cause the depletion of B12 I just read after doing a google search.
Hmmm, maybe I should start taking B12.

Wow :-)
Best regards,
Ed.
