How long does a single dose of Xanax XR last for anyone? And how much are you taking?
I take 1mg in the morning and it seeems to last for 8-12 hours.

It works much better this way if you are taking it daily, no peaks and valleys.

I take 3mg twice daily -- Usually first thing in the morning (~6 AM) and the other around noon. I would point out that even without the second dose, there is minimal 'immediate' withdrawal symptoms or rebound anxiety as it wears off almost so slowly you don't notice.
Xanax XR is much better than regular alprazolam... no peaks or valleys as noted. Unfortunately the price is outrageous and of course there are no generics available. (1 month supply = $360USD for me) If your insurance is covering it -- you are very lucky.

when i took it, i took 2mg twice a day. unfortunately, it was so subtle that i couldn't feel it start to work and couldn't say for sure whether it was working at all... so i don't know how long a single dose lasts. after less than two weeks, i went back to regular xanax. i preferred the ups and downs and definite potency to the smoothness of the xr. if i want a longer-acting benzo, i prefer klonopin over xanax xr. it lasts nearly as long and has more of a calming effect on me. plus, as someone else said about the cost of xanax xr, klonopin doesn't cost me an arm and a leg!

hey-- i took different doses of klonopin three times a day. to me, 1mg of xanax is roughly equal to 1mg of klonopin, so i took up to 4mg a day, usually 1mg three times a day. hope this helps!
