I am at my wit's end here.
As much as I hate to, I think I'm going to have to go back and get on some kind of medicine.
I had a break down today and felt very suicidal. I find myself thinking strange thoughts.. like today while driving a big semi truck was coming by, I thought, " if I would just pull right out in front of him, I could end this now and be better."
Those thoughts are really starting to worry me. I have two young son's, one is autistic and needs me. I can't afford to leave my children but I can't afford to be this way either.
I'm at such a loss.
I had a horrible reaction to Lexapro so my dr. has suggested Wellbutrin XL (at only 150mg's). I am just wondering if because of my dysphoric/manic state on Lexapro, I should be on a mood stabilizer while going on Wellbutrin too.
Any ideas what would work for me?
I'm extremely depressed and a bit "uncomfortable" in my skin/mind. I don't know how to explain that one, just feel really weird in my own body. Not quite or totally "agitated" but more like mentally restless.
Any thoughts?

I hope you feel better. You have a lot of responsibilites that could lead to feeling this way. Did anything out of the ordinary happen lately? The med combo I really don't know. Hopefully the "experts" will answer your Post. Fondly, Phillipa

I have depression, and Lamictal helped me quite a bit in the beginning to stop those wild moments of despair, and suicidal images just like you mention. At first it also helped anxiety, though after a while this nice effect began to wear off, but many others find it good long-term. It did exactly as expected--"stabilized" my mood.
I don't think I have any side effects at all, though you just saw me post asking whether others have noticed cognitive difficulties on Lamictal. But in truth it is more likely to be one of the other meds I am on, as I have been on Lamictal several months with no problem. But I can say for sure that I did not have nasty side effects at all those first months. There are other options, but I have no personal experience.

Hi:
Actually you might be better-off Lexapro plus a mood-stabilizer, because as long as you're on M.S., you never be going into 'manic' state, as recalling one of your previous posts. In regard to a mood-stabilizer, ... I'd suggest 'Lithium' which is more for 'manic side' of your Bp with less for depressive one, however the Lithium is widely used for both Bp I and Bp II, as recalling your 'psychotic episodes,' ... just 'few,' but you need to be cautious NOT make psycho. episodes returned and 'harrassing' you.

Wellbutrin is the one AD that is known for NOT causing manic episodes. It is often prescribed for people with BP. So why don't you wait and see. Trying too many meds at once makes it difficult to know which one is causing a problem should one arise.
Just my 2 cents.

Hello there, I've written to you before, and I have to say that our responses to Lexapro are all too similar. It was not until on Lexapro that I started having suicidal thoughts exactly like you -- I ccall them "impulsive suicidal thoughts" -- they just pop up sometimes, and I'm afraid I will one day act on them. You might be having a 'mixed episode' - manic with depression mixed together, creating a very agitated state. Look into it or ask your doctor about it. In any case, be sure you tell your doctor eerything you can about how you are feeling. My therapist told me something that helped me with those suicidal feelings (I also have young children that need me, and I am afraid of those feelings). THey are comforting to me, a comfort when I am feeling overwhelmed. If I look at them symbolically that way, I understand them better and can get some distance from them. They don't actually mean that I will kill myself, just that I am overwhelmed for the moment and need some comfort, and those feelings and thoughts will pass. ~~Autumn~~
