I heard a commercial on a Miami,FL radio station -- it was either 94.9 ZETA or Big 106 about a study about treatment resistant depression.
However, I can't remember the company and # to call.
I think the company running the study's name starts with a "C".
Any help would be greatly aprreciated.
Thx.

I doubt they'll ever get FDA approval. They've tried for years.

Last August 2003 I had it removed. From what I understand it wasn't the huge success they'd hoped it to be - but it did help some. They at first received an approval from the FDA only a few months later this year to have that approval revoked. Apparently many on the board weren't satisfied with the findings. I haven't kept up with it since, but last I read Cyberonics was going to do everything it could to get it re-approved

I haven't seen you posting for a while, and was thinking about you. I wanted to know how you are feeling and how the Effexor withdrawal was going. Have you started the Cymbalta yet?

I'm still on Medical leave. Have NOT started the Cymbalta yet. I see my therapist 2x weekly and that's been helping more than the meds. I'm not the greatest - very alone. But, what can ya do?
Thanks for asking!! It's good to hear from you

I'm glad to hear the therapy is helping to some degree. Has you medical leave been extended? Did you have a chance to talk to the "cool" supervisor about your eventual return to work? I hope the Cymbalta works for you Jerry. I am routing for you! Take good care (and I hope you are trying to eat!).

I lie awake wondering why I continue? How can one live being devoid of all pleasure? There's no substance....sorry to be all "depressed" - haha - but it's unfortunately true. I wish I could have a dog in my apt. I love dogs....

> JerryDon't give up Jerry. You have friends here. I would be happy to call you a cyber friend. I don't know if I would discard Cymbalta before you have even taken it. You can always take something else to help with the sexual side effects, if it happens (ginko, Wellburtin, Viagara). And, don't worry about the apt. being a wreck. You'll get to that when you are ready. Don't beat yourself up over the small things. I have a dog and am so happy to have her. She gets me out walking (even if it is only for 15 - 20 mins a day). Perhaps you can look into getting a cat. They can be good company too.

Hi Jerry:
Just checking in with you too. I've been watching the board and posting about my own issues sometimes, otherwise I've been kinda busy. So I'm so glad to see you here! You have been helping others, I notice. Which is awesome of you, when you're not feeling the greatest yourself :).
Have you ever been over to the psychology board? They discuss therapy and ideas around it, quite a bit. You might find that board another helpful place.
I'm wondering about starting therapy myself. You seem to be getting a lot out of it.
I can't remember, but did you ever try Nortryptiline? I keep reading good things about it here, and it doesn't have sexual side effects. You may need to combine it with something else too, to lift your pleasure/reward centres...a dopaminergic.
Keep us up to date with your journey!
Warm wishes as always,
Jas
BTW, did you ever dust off that cello and get playing?

Yeah I've been on Nortryptiline. It worked well - but it made my hands shake terribly. I'm still having a really tough time with anhedonia - just don't want to do anything...feel no reward or statisfaction, etc. So, unfortunately I haven't dusted off my cello. Hopefully someday soon......
Thanks for checking in....nice to have you guys out there.

jerry,
if nortrip worked well, isn't it worth it to put up with tremors? i would take them over anhedonia any day.
