I have been on Zoloft and on Wellbutrin for about 4 years. Recently I've developed a problem that sounds like RLS. My question is, can it affect only one leg? It's only my right leg and it's making me nuts. I dont know how to describe it aside from saying that it's the most annoying feeling I've ever had and I don't know if I can ever sleep again! Please help!

Hi Shelly
I have RLS too. I was on Prozac when it suddenly started.
Doesn't it drive you nuts???????
People don't seem to understand how awful it is when you can't stop moving. I used to love to read in bed...not anymore.
Mine started with the left leg....the right leg was fine. But it did progress with time and now it affects both legs....24/7.
I have other movement problems too, but can tell you what a couple of Neurologists recommended for just the RLS. They said some might work, some won't, but it is worth a try.
Apply heat at night to the leg
Massage leg at night
Take extra Magnesium, Calcium and Potassium
Take extra B Complex Vitamins
Take extra Vit E
Take extra Folic Acid
Take extra Iron
Use Electrical Nerve Stimulation
Doctor prescribed:
Sedatives
Pain medication
Neurontin
Parkinson's meds
I am still going through the list and giving everything a try. So far, I like the massage and the Electrical Nerve Stimulation... Be sure to try only one vitamin at a time to see exactly what, if any, helps....
I hope one of these relieves the RLS and you get a good night sleep again
Take care

I have restless legs, and a restless head.
If I move more, my head goes slower.
It's like my body movement multiplied by my head stuff equals a constant, so the more I move the slower my head goes.
I just want it to be quiet.

Restless legs runs in our family-mom, sister, me. My sister and I had it as girls. We used to call it "crazy legs." My mother suffers almost nightly from it and has seen a specialist. She has tried the Parkinsons meds, had some relief. Takes warm baths, calcium, magnesium, etc.
Restless legs happens to me once in a while. I hate it when it happens while relaxing in the evening. You just cannot read a paper or book. In bed, I slap my legs against the mattress and try to fall asleep as fast as I can. Lucky for me that I have no sleep trouble. I have found that using the technique of going with the "crazies" sometimes helps (like LaMaze) It's when I flail my legs that they get worse. If I lay still and sorta meld into that awful sensation, sometimes it cuts the discomfort and then I dash into slumber.
It's a rotten affliction. Lots of the web about it. check it out.

RLS is one of those yuck things that sometimes defies description. I had it as a child, but grew out of it. Recently I developed a very mild case of it caused by Remeron, for various other reasons I swapped from Remeron to Nortriptyline.
I suspect Wellbutrin maybe be the cause for Shelly, I would quit that first as it would be relatively easy to go off & would only be a minor player compared to Zoloft.
Cheers,
Panda.

Eating sugar seemed to make mine worse too. If I stay away from sugar in the evening, I'm much less likely to have a problem when trying to sleep.

I have solved my problem with RLS by taking 200 mg. Selenium daily. Recently I went off of it, and the problem came back in a week. I restarted the selenium and it stopped. Initially, it took a few weeks before it started working.

Good to know! Is the selenium in your multivitamin or do you take it separately? I have 200 mg. in my multi but somehow I don't think it all gets absorbed.
