Restless legs runs in our family-mom, sister, me. My sister and I had it as girls. We used to call it "crazy legs." My mother suffers almost nightly from it and has seen a specialist. She has tried the Parkinsons meds, had some relief. Takes warm baths, calcium, magnesium, etc.
Restless legs happens to me once in a while. I hate it when it happens while relaxing in the evening. You just cannot read a paper or book. In bed, I slap my legs against the mattress and try to fall asleep as fast as I can. Lucky for me that I have no sleep trouble. I have found that using the technique of going with the "crazies" sometimes helps (like LaMaze) It's when I flail my legs that they get worse. If I lay still and sorta meld into that awful sensation, sometimes it cuts the discomfort and then I dash into slumber.
It's a rotten affliction. Lots of the web about it. check it out.
