i have a very hard time controlling speech and word processing, along with a fair bit of social withdrawl and other conditions. this poor word control has me interested though because it was only recently recongnized. what is this a symptom of and what could help. thanks

If it is *word-finding* difficulties when you are trying to speak-it might be med-related. SSRI's are well-known to cause this trouble for some people. I've had trouble with that before. AD's that boost up NE (desipramine, Straterra, etc.) seemed to help me. If you are having trouble understanding speech (listening-trouble discerning direction sounds come from), that could be CAPD (Central Auditory Processing Disorder). That has to do with problems in your temporal lobes processing your sense data from your ears and coding it.

Hey Ritch,
just as I was coming off of Zoloft three weeks ago, I asked my most recent x-pdoc about Straterra. He'd never really heard about it. or rather mumbled something like this. It's like beating a dead horse - getting some really good feedback and support /help/ compentent advice! from this trained/TRAINED people making tons of $$$. So one, this is why I am looking for another pdoc and two, what country are you in? Maybe Straterra isn't in USA yet?
tks.
katia
p.s. on Zoloft, i experienced that "word loss" you both describe

Strattera was available in the US in January.

Katia,
I'm trying straterra instead of serzone right now. I'll let you know how it goes.

Why? What was going on with Serzone? was it not working? wasn't it only a few weeks you were on it?
let me know how your experience with Straterra goes.

Katia,Hey,
Yeah, I only took Serzone for a few days. I felt really nauseated and kind of freaked out about the liver warning, so I hopped to Straterra.
You can see my Strat posts down below, but, basically, I don't like it so far. I feel dopey and forgetful. I'm not sure if I like the idea of downregulating my dopamine receptors (if that happens).
So, I'm probably gonna hop back to Serzone and stay there for a few weeks. We'll see how I feel tomorrow.

I've heard about the liver thing w/ serzone, but is it really that dangerous? I heard from someone on this post that you're more likely to get hit by a car. (knock on wood that neither happen). I'm just going for it. it seems like it's working some for me.
how long have you been on Strat.? What does your pdoc say?

> how long have you been on Strat.? What does your pdoc say?
katia,i haven't talked to my pdoc about how dopey i feel on straterra. however, it doesn't have interactions w/ serzone, so i don't think it should be an issue.
um. . . my pdoc is sort of using me as a guinea pig. he's not sure what to expect because he's never treated anyone for severe anxiety with straterra before.
i'm torn between waiting another day and just restarting serzone, which has worked for me in the past. i wonder if i should just be on 'nothing' for like a month to see how i feel.
i'm glad the serzone is working for you. i admit the risk is quite low.

How much Straterra are you taking? I liked the decrease in anxiety from the Straterra

I started at 40 but had to back down to 25. I was getting too much side effects at 40. I tried 18mg and 30... 25 seen to be the best for me...most all the side effect are slowly going away and have been on the Straterra for almost 3 and a half months now. My anxiety level...I realize that I don't spaz out at the slightest thing...and I have it for ADHD. It does take time for this to kick in...and I'm the impatient type...
