NO. Depression is very different from schizophrenia.
Schizophrenia almost always shows up by a person's mid-20's and I have never heard of a doctor misdiagnosing schizophrenia as depression (though it is not beyond the scope of possibilities) and moreover keeping up a misdiagnosis for FOUR years.
There are plenty of people on this board taking olanzapine for depression.

Hey there!
I have been treated for severe depression.
I have taken Olanzapine and am no way psychotic!
I didn't find it helpful to lift my depression, but it does have anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) properties.
Has your husband tried a combination of SSRI added with Lithium augmentation? That has been successful for me.
Best of luck
Hope he is doing well

Psychosis in depression is actually quite common. This could be why the doctor prescribed olanzapine. Antipsychotics resolve psychotic symptoms regardless of diagnosis--they work on drug-induced psychoses, psychotic mania, schizophrenia, psychotic depression, etc.
