Spots in front of your eyes???

Posted by Krissy P on March 24, 2003, at 22:35:47

Hi all, I am reading a post and I reminded myself of this and wanted to see if anyone has had any symptom of spots?-more like floaters in their eyes while on any med, more or less? I seem to have a floater, and remember very well that it started when I started Seroquel.
Any thoughts or experiences?
The post reminded me about this, as I have had this floater/spot in my left eye for sometime. I have been to the eye doctor and a okay.
Can anyone relate?
thank you, Kristen

I get that too Kristen. I have always had them at some time. Maybe it is the Seroquel.

I was thinking, I didn't take my Seroquel last night. But, I did take my usual dose of 2mg of Klonopin. I started on the Klonopin too around the same time this floater/spot ocurred. Never had it before the Seroquel AND Klonopin.
I wonder. It worries me a little because I heard somewhere that Seroquel can cause Glaucoma????

Floaters are not from Seroquel. » Krissy P

They're a fact of life. Some people have more than others, and we get more as we grow older. I've had them since my early twenties. My husband's are so bad they sometimes interfere with his reading.

But there's little you can--or should--do about them. Don't worry. Iso wrote about them a month or so ago. She pretty much knows everything.

I am the floater queen. I've almost had panic attacks from them--just the idea that I'm going to see them for the rest of my life. But they are worse in different lights. I think my doctor said it helps to keep the eyes moisturized by using artificial tears (use products with no preservatives). I'm going to see him next week (with new floaters since the last visit) and ask again. In Chinese medicine floaters are considered to be a manifestation of a Liver meridian imbalance. Not an actual liver organ problem, but the liver meridian. Depression and emotions are also largely governed by the Liver meridian, and medications can affect it. Sorry if I got too obtuse.

Neither obtuse nor abstruse. At times of stress, floaters can at least seem more abundant. But I also believe we're more apt to notice them and let them bother us when we're feeling low.

When I feel good, I almost never think about my floaters. When I haven't had much sleep, they drive me bonkers.

I too have had the Floaties for most of my life, and seem to notice and obsess more about them when depressed...vicious cycle!!! Have only been taking meds recently, so I know in my case, the meds did not cause them.

hi beardy:-)
I agree, I know I am more apt to notice this floater in my left eye and it bothers me more when I'm feeling low.
*sigh* I wish life were different sometimes.
I just want to feel good:-)
Take care, Kristen
